Help with photo spots

Help with photo spots

ok, borrowing some wisdom from the married people. Our situation-getting married Nov 16 @ 3. Sunset is at 4:35. By the time we get out of church, we will not have light to take pictures outside. And since there is a reception before ours, we can't get into the Milleridge until 6:30. Where can we take pictures??? Did anyone else have this problem? We know of EAB (won't be decorated for the holidays yet) and Westbury gardens ($$$$). We called virtually every mansion and museum in the area and either they don't have indoor pictures or some other reason we can't. Help, help, help!

I dont know of any other than the ones you mentioned, however have you called your photographer for help? they should know where to take pictures at that hour..if they cant tell you maybe you can recruit some nice brides from the other side to call their photographers for some ideas..

I agree with Suzanne. You should enlist the help of your photographer on this one. He may be able to make arrangements with a hotel or something of the like for a photo shoot. Good Luck!!

Matt - what about pictures at the church. We spent time after the receiving line taking additional pictures at the alter. Maybe there are areas outside that could be lit for pictures, or there may be stairs, balconies, etc. that would lend themslelves for pictures.

I notice that the church is in Garden City. Do you know anyone who's a member at the Garden City Country Club? They have a pretty lobby with a fireplace. It may even be worth a call to see if they would allow you to rent the space for a reasonable amount.

What about 'fun' shots - I'm thinking of those photos you see where the bride and groom are on a fire truck, at a carnival, at a marina - think about unusual options. Maybe a mock reception at McDonalds or White Castle? Might make for a fun picture! Can you find a Jaguar or Rolls Royce dealership that would let you pose with a car?

Try driving the route the limo will take from the church to the reception site - see what catches your eye. You might find some fun options that way too.

Good luck!

I agree with KarenH. Some of our favorite shots are those taken of the 2 of us inside the church after the ceremony.
