Help with thank you etiquette

need some ideas on what to write for cash gifts? any ideas?? we're not planning to use the money to buy anything extravagent..so what could i write TIA

I just wrote something like.. Thank you so much for the very generous gift.. we really appreciate it!

I wrote something like 'thank you for your very generous wedding gift. We appreciate your generosity very much...

then I thanked them for sharing our wedding day with us and some other info about being so happy to have everyone there with us.

for some people, I also wrote about enjoying the site seeing while we honeymooned.

This is probably bad but I just made it up. We had other plans for the money but I wrote stuff like 'complete our china', 'complete our stemware'...blah blah... I mean...I don't think they really care... All I really wanted to say was thank you for coming and thank you for the generous gift, the rest was just filler.

I a sense I agree -- most of the people you are writing to will never know exactly where you spend the money so you can really say what ever you want.

Some classical things are:

We are placing all the gifts into a house fund.
We used your gift for a romantic dinner on our honeymoon.
We are using you gift to help us by a much needed (--- whatever -sofa, t.v.,)
