Can anyone recommend a restaurant for me.. I would like it to be reasonably priced, yummy and romantic. I've been to a lot of places, so I am coming to a loss on somewhere new...

kotobuki in babylon

Don Ricardo's in Babylon! AHAHAH. I used to LOVE that place.

Kotobuki is the best sushi around.

Mario is Hauppuage has very good Italian food. We went last week for my dads 70th.

Also try Cirella's in Melville. Never had a bad meal there

that's it! i went on a date there with one of my exes and I totally loved it. Been dying to go back. I think it's so pretty and the food was pretty good from what i remember.

Cirella's is great. I love their Lobster Ravioli. so yummy.

Try H2O in Smithtown or Milk and Sugar in Bayshore.

It is great for a bar/club lounge crowd.

ETA - another fun place I almost forgot is
Argyle grill They make THE best Watermelon martini's

OMG JEN - totally agree about the Argyle! Those are the BEST watermelon martinis! Also in the winter they make great peppermint chocolate martinis!

Long Island's most romantic restaurants
BY PETER M. GIANOTTI AND JOAN REMINICK | Newsday Restaurant Critics

Two of our critics chime in with their recommendations for romantic rendezvous.

From Peter M. Gianotti:

Candlelight, soft music, full moon, waves crashing.

But the food better be good.

TOP 5 Dining on Long Island There are as many ways to define a romantic restaurant as there are those looking for one. Marcello and Sophia? Cary and Grace? Or maybe Sid and Nancy? You think it's easy?

That said, here's a quintet of newer restaurants in Nassau and Suffolk bridging the traditional and the contemporary. The best advice is to reserve early, at these or any other eateries in the running. And if you can't land a table on Feb. 14, just be so excited that you're going Feb. 13 instead.

Jedediah's in Jamesport. A beautifully restored 1863 inn, Italianate in style and now new American in food, this is a winning combo. There are several dining areas, each inviting. Among the recommended dishes: butter-poached lobster, ricotta gnocchi, tuna 'three ways,' flourless chocolate cake, berry brioche bread pudding. Rooms, too. 400 S. Jamesport Ave., Jamesport; 631-722-2900.

The Lake House in Bay Shore. Lawrence Lake glistens and the food shines at a new waterfront star. The mood is right and the new American cuisine excellent. The tables almost perched by the water are best. But you'll feel very welcome at any one. The menu changes regularly. Some favorites: wild mushroom-and-braised beef agnolotti, wild mushroom risotto, butter-poached lobster, warm chocolate souffle, peach sorbet. 240 W. Main St., Bay Shore; 631-666-0995.

The Mansion at the Woodlands in Woodbury. Situated on the second floor of a grand old residence at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course, The Mansion celebrates past and present. The winding staircase provides an appropriately opulent accent. Recommended: pan-seared halibut with a truffled corn emulsion, gnocchi with mushrooms and truffle oil, almond-olive oil cake with Armagnac-poached figs, roasted pineapple bread pudding with coconut custard. 1 Southwoods Rd., Woodbury; 516-921-5707.

Mosaic in St. James. Cozy and ambitious, Mosaic also is imaginative and spirited in a new American way. The approach is easygoing; the food, a bit whimsical. The outside gives no hint of what awaits. The menu is frequently updated. Winning dishes: a tasting of duck, sea scallops in parchment, sunflower seed-crusted king salmon, 'cheesecake deconstructed' and a little box of L.A. Burdick's chocolates. 418 N. Country Rd., St. James. 631-584-2058.

From Joan Reminick:

The Gatsby, 712 Main St., Islip, will give a free rose to ladies, as well as regale diners with live music (love songs, what else?) from 6 to 10 p.m. A three-course meal, at $49.95 a person, includes an appetizer selection of truffled oyster bisque, a main course option of grilled filet mignon, and for dessert, possibly a white chocolate torte. For information or reservations, call 631-581-1900.

Another restaurant with something special planned is Bistro M, 70 Glen Head Rd., Glen Head. A three-course menu, at $75, will be served in seatings at 6, 6:30, 8 and 8:30 p.m., and will feature, among first course choices, coconut and lobster bisque with lobster teumpura, mango, cilantro and scallions, a second course option of roasted veal loin chop with Parmesan flan, porcini mushrooms and Swiss chard, and, as one of three finale selections, passion fruit and vanilla bean panna cotta. To reserve, or for more information, call 516-671-2498.

A few other places with Valentine's Day festivities:

The Snapper Inn, 500 Shore Dr., Oakdale, 631-589-0248

Snaps Restaurant, 2010 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, 516-221-0029, snapsrestaurant.com

Four Food Studio and Cocktail Salon, 515 Broadhollow Rd., Melville, 631-577-4444

Desmond's Restaurant and Lounge (at the East Wind), 5720 Rte. 25A, Wading River, 631-846-2335

Morton's The Steakhouse, 777 Northern Blvd., Great Neck, 516-498-2950

Della Femina Restaurant, 99 N. Main St., East Hampton, 631-329-6666

The Plaza Cafe, 61 Hill St., Southampton, 631-283-9323

Mirabelle, 404 N. Country Rd., St. James, 631-584-5999

Ruvo, 63 Broadway, Greenlawn, 631-261-7700

105 Wynn Lane, Port Jefferson, 631- 476-3800

Thank you for this ! Very helpful... Mosaic is owned and run by one of my best friends. It's really awesome =) So happy it made the list

I highly recommend Ruvo in Greenlawn.

Also consider Red in Huntington and Osteria da Nino, both in Huntington. Can't recall how price-y there are though.

Re: Hey lovely ladies

pasta, pasta -- port jeff (italian)

sweetwaters -- hauppauge (american/steaks)

butterfields -- hauppauge (american/steaks)

benkei -- northport village (sushi - japanese)

cirella's -- melville (italian)

milk and sugar cafe -- bay shore (all sorts of stuff)

garden grill -- smithtown (italian, american)

oscar's -- st. james (italian, asian fusion, american)

... some of them might be a little pricey, depending on what you get, but it isn't as much as a place like teller's or prime or something like that -- they are pretty reasonable considering the quality of food. the atmosphere is also nice.
