Hi girls I have a question about something....NWR....I'm not a NW either...
I know I am not a newlywed yet, but for some reason i felt u girls can help me, and I do not feel comfortable posting this question on the other board (BHB). My doctor put me on Lexipro, and I was wondering if ne of u r on this or know of someone who has been on this, and did it help them? They put me on it for anxeity. I am sorry for intervening on ur board, I'm just a lil nervous about taking this medicine b/c I never had to take ne thing like this b4. I started it yesterday, and so far no side affects, but still.......
Thank you.

I haven't been on it, but I've worked with students in the past who have taken it. It all depends on your own situation and why your doctor gave it to you. Only you, your doctor, and those around you will be able to tell over time if it's right for you!

I was on lexapro for 4 years and it helped me tremendously. I was barely able to make it through a day without crying and being a nervous wreck and it totally got me to a point where I felt like myself again. I didnt have any side effects from it at all other than the initial shakiness and nausea the first week. After that I was great and so thankful. I have been off of it for a year and a couple months and even coming off of it I was fine...no symptoms ata ll! Feelf ree to FM me with questions! You will be iok and SO thankful you went on it!

It's actually an anti depression and anti anxiety. I was on it. It is prescribed for both. I was on it for anxiety. Since they are so closely linked it is used for both purposes.

I was also prescribed it. i was told it is an anti depression pill that can calm you down and work that way for both instances. It helps your body absorb more seratonin. And if anxiety is still bad... they can also prescribe other pills like xanax to take on an as needed basis.
These types of pills can affect people differently. Look out for the side affects and discuss them with your doctor.

A girl I worked with was on it and loved it. I was going through a hard time and she suggested it. I went to the doctor and got a prescription and I have to say it worked great.

Yes kinda like Zoloft that too is for Anxiety or Anti-Depression. They work in the same capacity. Ive never been on either or any. But i know many people who are so thankful for them. I knwo initially there is a small period of your body getting used to it & then all seems ok. Also if you ever do go off you normally would have to do so slowly by dropping mg & then finally going off. To the young lady who is the OP of this thread. Good luck dont be discouraged or freaked out by sudden little affects & keep in contact with the Dr. for any questions you may have.

Re: Hi girls I have a question about something....NWR....I'm not a NW either...
Now I took it for about 3 months and I had a very bad reaction to it...It helped me get through my anxiety and depression issues, but I was always tired (like realllly tired) I had a dry mouth, and I sweat like CRAZY, it was embarassing and disgusting.
I usually don't have a reaction to anything, but again, it did help me get through those issues that I had.
Hope that helps, please feel free to FM me if you have any other questions.

I took it for a few years and like Lauren it helped me tremendously. I had terrible anxiety and depression disorders and I really credit Lexapro (as well as the help of my doctors over the course of YEARS) to help me get out of that.
I quit cold turkey and I don't suggest that; I had terrible withdrawl for about 20 days but was fine ever after.

Thank U girls sooooooooooooooo much! I feel more comfortable taking it now. 3 days in and really no side effects, but i am taking it with my Xanax too. I am on it for GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and I never wanted to go to the doc, but i just ciuldn't deal with the anxiety ne more! But i do feel a lil better, like i noticed when i was driving to work and a car came a lil too close to mine, I didn't spaz and my heart wasn't racing like it normally would, i was calm. So I hope this works, and my Doc said I wouldn't have to be on it forever, and when she feels i am ready to come off it she will ween me off. But thank u so much for all the info, i feel better aboutn this decision!

I haven't been on it but wanted to say if you notice any changes in your mood/behavior contact your doctor right away. Also if you notice any side effects.

I took Lexapro and it basically mellowed out all my feelings. So I'd either feel them, just dulled, or I'd know I should be feeling something but didn't. As far as side effects goes...nothing that I can think of, until I went off. And even after doing my best to wean myself off slowly it was horrible, but that's how all antidepressants and psychotropic drugs are.

That same thing happened to me which at times could be a really good thing but I also felt it prevented me from feeling really happy when good stuff happened. I just kind of felt exactly the same all the time.
I didn't have any side effects at all except for really insane dreams... I mean REALLY crazy! Not like nightmares, just really trippy stuff!
