hi ladies! Couple of questions....

Newlywed for 2 days and loving it!
How do I go about this whole name changing thing?

I know I need to go to Social Security and DMV, do I have to wait for my marriage license first?

What about credit cards and car insurance and all that good stuff?

DESPERATE FOR HELP!

I went to Social Security about a month ago and got a new card. From what I understand, this should come first. Then I changed my name at work, with my health plan, and my bank. Next I did credit cards. I still have to change it with my student loan (they want a boatload of documentation from me), my passport, my retirement plans, and the DMV.

The student loan and DMV are coming next. Also, change any utilities, rent or mortage contracts, etc. I don't have my own car yet, but you'll have to change it on your registration and insurance if you do.

yes, you'll need your license before you can go to social security.

FIRST, do your health insurance changes.

Then, do the social security card. Then, go to the DMV. After that, I suggest doing the passport. While that's out, you can call all of your credit cards and do those.
