Hi there....panicked 08er here needs your help if you did a candy bar

Hi Ladies,
Sorry to crash but i'm at my wits end......i'm at 10 days to go until the big day and I think I really still want to do a candy bar. My issue is, I don't know how much candy to gauge per person.

Is there a guideline of some sort? I tried a search but can't seem to find anything about this particularly. I'm getting 1/2 lb tin-tie bags...but should I get more than that per guest.....or less figuring not everyone will partake?????

What do you think????

hmm.... well i didn't do this - but i ALMOST did....are u having additional desert of some sort or vienese hour?? or are u just doing cake?? we were doing viennese so my RH advised us to just go to costco/bj's, buy bulk of what we'd like & then provide the jars/bowls with scoops..... they'd set it all up. If u're having additional dessert i dont think u necessarily need to do bags per person...but rather just have a variety set up so people can walk by & take some if they'd like....

We're not doing a viennese. Just cake served with vanilla bean gelato and they will have homemade biscotti on the tables as well.

I did a candy bar and really couldn't figure out how much candy to get either. I used Chinese take-out containers (pints, i think) and got enough candy to fill all of the containers I set up. It was probably around 30lbs or so, but I really focused more on filling the containers and having a beautiful display.

How many guests did you end up having?? Do you think most people used the buffet or did you have lots of leftover take-out containers?

I had 145 guests and they practically attacked it!! It was a really big hit with everyone. There wasn't much candy left over and I had about 50 or so containers left, but I had about 175 to start with.
