Highlites or Color

So, its spring time and I need a change. I am thinking of either coloring my hair to a lighter shade of brown OR getting highlites.
Which do you ladies think is better?
My hair right now is kind of dark brown (with a few grays )

Shoot, i forgot to add a poll

ETA if you go with highlites.....do you get the foil highlites or the cap highlites?

Hmm depends on how committed to taking care of the new color you are. Highlights usually last a little better but full dye jobs require maintenance.

I am going to highlight my hair like I did for ym wedding, but I also dye itlil' bit lighter than natural color. I go for the Eva Mendes look

I do single process permanent color in a brunette shade, a little darker than what remains of my natural color. About 40% of my hair is gray.

I'm also thinking about highlights to lighten my color a bit, maybe some darker caramel, then go back to single process permanent in a lighter shade.
Just not sure if I want to spend the $.

Depends on the look.

Brown hair huh???? I have a very dark blonde myself...which most ppl will say is brown.

Highlights look great. If you are thinking about light highlights...they will bleach out your hair a bit. The ones with foil look the best (in my opinion...I've gotten them both tons of times & have done them myself with the cap...don't do this). This is expensive. Maintaining it can be done in further apart intervals than one-color processing. You will need to get low-lights eventually to make parts darker because it will all blend in eventually.

One color processing will need to be within a few shades of your natural color (for best results). HOWEVER....this damages your hair less. My hair is so crispy from over-highlighting...I'm going back to my natural color. I've been coloring my hair since I was 15.
