Holiday Advice Needed

Holiday Advice Needed

This year is our first married Thanksgiving and Christmas. Unfortunately, DH has to work on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (he works an 8am-4pm shift). We live on Staten Island and usually drive out to eastern Suffolk to my family for holidays.

I just don't know what to do. I am preggo (will be 5 months and 6 months at each holiday respectively) and driving what could be 6 hours round trip by myself doesn't thrill me, but I'd do it. DH gets off work at 4pm, so I feel like I should just stay home and wait for him to get home since he can't come late (usually everyone is done and leaving by the time he would get out there) and I can't really go early because I would leave before they would eat dinner anyway. Thanksgiving is more of a problem then Christmas since my parents live in Manhattan and we will go to their house on Christmas Eve.

Ugggg...no one seems to understand why I don't want to leave my DH by himself (he has no real family that he could go to see by himself either) on holidays. I just don't know what to do about.

Holidays are always difficult.

I think I'd stick w/ hubby and cook a very simple dinner for both of you.

JMHO.

Best of luck with your decision.

Re: Holiday Advice Needed

In the circumstances for this year, I would stay at home, make a meal for the two of you and enjoy this time together.

Or if something can be worked out for your parents to come to you for one of the holiday's - that could work too!
