House Hunting Heck!

House Hunting Heck!

Anyone else house hunting and disguisted by it? Honestly, these homes are not worth the money they are asking!!!!

We looked in Massapequa and thought the area was nice. For anyone that lives there, how is the commute to NYC?

Also, do you have any pointers? I don't know anything about the neighborhood. We saw our dream house there, unfortunately, it was about 2x the amount we'd like to spend!!!!

OMG!!!!! My hubby and I have been at this for weeks. I am SO frustrated. There is nothing out there worth buying for under 350,000. And that should not have to be a handy man special. We will probably buy a condo. It just doesnt seem like our time to buy a house. Best of luck to you!

We've been looking at over $400K, and none are worth buying. Any condo complexes interesting?

we are just beginning to look to upgrade our living space (we currenly own a townhouse) and want something with a basement and big backyard....the market is just ridiculous. I dont know how people do it...we are looking at a half million for a nice house - how the heck are we suppose to pay that for a HOUSE?!?! For a half-mil, you'd think it'd be a mansion....Nope I'm talking a 20-30 year old home in smithtown or lake grove! And forget the new houses, those beautiful victorians and colonials, they want 650K and up for those!

Commuting isn't bad at all. Since the train tracks are high you don't have to worry abour jumpers or snow as much as you do on the ronkoncoma(sp) line. Also if you miss the train you can try to race up sunrise hwy and still catch it at Seaford or Wantagh.. lol, did that many times.

I went to John Jay College and commuting for all 4 years it wasen't bad at all. About a 35-40 minute ride and it is pretty quiet and there are seats! Another thing that doesn't happen often on Ronkoncoma line.

I live in Massapequa now. The commute to NYC isn't too bad. It's about 45 minutes with the express trains. It's a great area, but the prices of houses everywhere is out of control. I don't know how we're ever going to afford something!

I would give anything right now to be able to afford a house. The prices are insane. In order to afford anything nice you have to move out of state.
