House ???'S

House ???'S

Dh and I just put in a bid and our agent asked for 4 things. A letter stating what we liked about the house (strongly recommended but not required), our physical adress, the name of our attorney, and the name of our engineer. Isn't it too early to need/want all this information?

Lastly, when a ML number no longer works on MLSLI what are the reasons? In contract? Owners took the house off the market to list with another realtor? Thanks in advance for your time and anticipated help.

I never heard of those things asked for before. Usually would they ask for those after everything was accepted. That's odd. Sorry I couldn't help more in that dept.

About the ML number I am thinking it is not available anymore. That happened a few times when I would look down here in FL You could ask the realtor if anything happened. I hope she didn't jump the gun and think you have it.

O.k the letter is weird.

The lawyer is normal but the engineer is not needed until the bank accepts your offer.

I only have a bit of an idea b/c I am in the middle of a bid on a short sale as we speak.

Good Luck

We weren't asked for any of those things when we place our bid. After the bid is accepted, then you contact a lawyer and an engineer. But that shouldn't be the business of the seller. If I were you, I would contact a real estate attorney first to find out if you are legally required to provide that info. to the seller. There's no reason that I can think of why they would need to know that before they have even accepted your offer.
As for the ML #, it may be off the market. Or, I've heard of people relisting their homes under a new # if their house has been on the market for a really long time. This way it seems as if it was just listed instead of sitting on the market for months without any bids.
If there's a particular house you are trying to find that's not coming up under the old #, you could try doing a search for houses in the town the house is in,and maybe you'll find it if it is still on the market.
Good luck!

When we put in our offer we did not have to do this at all. I only had to sign the offer form. Ask your agent why they need that.

Also this is not related to your question but you will be looking into this soon. Do not use a lawyer or engineer your agent suggests. They all work for the best interest of each other. My father did our home inspection so we were okay in that department but our lawyer was through the estate agent and he left much to be desired. In hindsight I wish we had used who my parents had suggested (they always have to be right).

Good luck

We called in the bid so no form was signed. DH talked to our agent so I'm going to e-mail her today and ask why the letter is needed. We felt like perhaps we were helping the other 2 listing agents with a promotional house flyer.

It's amazing all the behind the back stuff that goes on . Last night one of my best friends and today a friend at work just meantioned the same thing. Thanks for looking out !!!!!!!
