Househunting update.... (long)

Househunting update.... (long)

Well... this past weekend was a bit better. One of the frustrating parts is seeing things in Friday's paper and calling to find out they are already in contract!!! I guess since you have to put them in a week in advance thats bound to happen, but it's frustrating just the same.

Anyway - on to what we did see. Better luck this time. Most of what we saw could have worked, although they were all lacking something. We finished the morning wishing we could take the great stone fireplace and the price of home #5 and put it in home #2 (I was tempted to ask if they'd include the 15 month old triplets in the deal!) While none were perfect, if we had to make a decision today I think we could have settled on one so that's more encouraging.

We are actually giving some serious consideration to one with a great yard and deck, big rooms, decent kitchen that has some great potential if we want to do some serious renovations in the years to come, like expand the bedroom and add a master bath, add a fireplace, etc. Two drawbacks... the road may be a bit busier than we'd like (but not bad) and I need to find out if it's too close to the MacArthur airport. Anyone know anything about Bohemia just north of Sunrise? Oh, and the price - it's a bit over our top limit, but we're told we can probably get them to accept a bid that's in our range. We just didn't want to go that high.

The real good news is that hubby had a good job interview this morning and if he gets it job it could double his income :-) so we may be able to look at more expensive houses - keep your fingers crossed.

I move next weekend, so I'll be in a better position to go look at things then :-)

Karen - things sound good!

I'll keep my fingers crossed. The house sounds like it has lots of potential...I'm jealous of the fact that you would have room for a fireplace - I always wanted one. I know how you feel about seeing some things you like - we once wished we could put the 'bottom' of house 1 under the 'top' of house 2 with the backyard from house 3 and we would have had the perfect place!!! :)
