Re: how are u and dh splitting holidays?

We're not. I'm sick of running around like a lunatic.

We used to do the following:

Christmas eve with my mom
Christmas morning - breakfast at the IL's
Christmas dinner at my sister's with my dad
Then cake and coffee at DH's aunt's.

This year we're hosting and EVERYONE is coming to us. My family and his. It's going to be a lot of work, but at least we won't spend Christmas in the car

Re: how are u and dh splitting holidays?

Thanksgiving was at our house, Christmas Eve at our house and Christmas Day at my parent's house.

DH's parents and brother did Thanksgiving in DC (we weren't invited because it was at her parent's house) and they're all doing Christmas in Pittsburgh. We invited them here but they said no (SHOCKER) and I refuse to spend Christmas morning in a hotel so we're not going there.

Re: how are u and dh splitting holidays?

this is when i'm grateful that i'm not from here

we're Jewish but for the high holidays (Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur) and Passover 95% of the time we're with ILs cuz they're here! once in a rare while we go to Toronto and then have to worry about splitting between my very divorced parents

Re: how are u and dh splitting holidays?

I cannot stand running around for the holidays. Every year we do Christmas Eve at my Uncle's mother-in-law's house for about an hour. Then we head over to my Mom's cousin's house.

In the past, we split Christmas Day twice. The other two years, we drove down to PA on Christmas Day where ILs go with FIL's father. It was a nightmare traveling there on Christmas Day.

Therefore, this year we decided to host Christmas. We are having 15 people or so over. ILs forgot that we were hosting Christmas, so they are still going to PA. Hopefully next year we will all be together.

We had ILs over on Monday for 'Christmas' since they won't be here.

Re: how are u and dh splitting holidays?

I am so thankful that Christmas Eve is my family's big night and his family is a Christmas day/night kinda fam....so fortunately every year we can do both!

We alternate thanksgiving and easter annually...which is the pits because I love thanksgiving at my parent's.

Re: how are u and dh splitting holidays?

We don't have big families. We are doing Christmas Eve with his family.
Christmas morning we are going to brunch with his family and then my mom's for the rest of the day.

Re: how are u and dh splitting holidays?

We're lucky no this part. His family does a bigger Christmas Eve and mine does a bigger Christmas Day so we're going to spend Eve with his parents (although mine will be joining us at the resturant for dinner) and then Day we'll be at my parents house and they invited DH's parents but I'm secretly hoping they don't come...
