Most of my proofs are an odd size (5x6?) so they are in photo boxes now. But I dont want to leave that way forever since a)my cats love boxes and will find their way eventually and b) its probably not great to have hand contact with them all the time.
Anyone know where I can get nice 5x6 or 5x7 albums? Something nice (no lace!!) but not insanely expensive.

Re: How are you storing your proofs?
Good question Stef! I met with Jo at the studio that other day, and I asked her if she knew where I could get a proof album for my 5x6s. But she didn't know. You're right, it's an odd size, and regular insert albums don't work. I would rather not use the sticky pages with the plastic cover. My proofs are still in the box that they came in. I'll keep searching and let you know if I find something.

Re: How are you storing your proofs?
Hmmm...I didn't have this problem b/c my pics were made into 5x5 proofs and the studio delivers them to you in a leather album. Have you tried Michaels? What about asking Mark's studio? Do they have any suggestions?
Or, this site...these guys are actually located in Roslyn, NY and at quick glance, their site looked to have some of the supplies you will need. But, judging from the prices of the acid-free photo sheets and binders, you're going to be spending a considerable amount of $$ to store 1500 proofs!

Re: How are you storing your proofs?
Mine are 3 1/2 X 5 and we had so many pics that the photographer suggested just going to Genovese and picking up some albulms to make it easier to look at them (which I did). They're not fancy but were on sale for like 3.99 each! I figure we'll put the ones we really like (there are over 1,000) in a nicer albulm someone gave us as a gift...

Mine were 5x5, but I got my albums at Fortunoff. The albums were basic white and I think they hold 5x7s as well. I can check if you'd like!

Re: How are you storing your proofs?
Stef, what kind of albums are you looking for? The sticky tape or the plastic pockets or plain paper kind with corners?
I don't know if its your style, but try
www.flaxart.com www.mollywest.com www.kolo.com - fabric albums with a window for picture on the top. www.daisyarts.com - the most expensive www.kozoarts.com - which btw is carried by the claypot in parkslope. http://www.handmadegifts.org - the cheapest, but it looks like the paper quality is ok from the pictures
Also, kates has a few nice ones on her site, but I haven't been to the store. And there is store in Hoboken with a big selection, but I don't know if you want to trek there.
Note, all of these are the corners type of albums.
If you want the other kind and don't mind looking through a bunch, you can try TJMaxx or Michaels, and if you walk around 7th Ave, closer to like 2nd street, there are a few gift shops with gift type photo albums, I remember at least 3 stores, mostly on the right hand side, if you're heading towards flatbush..
Ok, I think that's all I have now, but there are also a few links at the scrapbooking thread that have nice albums, although not quite my taste, but may work for you.

Re: How are you storing your proofs?
Thanks guys...sorry I wasnt more specific. I want the plastic sleeve kind (not the plastic sticky kind). I like the ones used with photo corners but they dont hold up well enough nor do i have the patience to work with 6000 photo corners (1500 proofs x 4)!

Re: How are you storing your proofs?
ArchivalUSA should have the plastic sleeve kind, and they also have black paper backgrounds, which enhances the photo.
Although I'm not a newlywed yet, I think I can offer some advice because I will have the same problem soon. I asked my photographer about this problem and he suggested that I go to a photography store (like B&H in the city or another store that specializes in phtography) and purchase an album for odd-sized photos. Good luck!
