sooooo DH is an electrician, 95% of the time he's on a jobsite in Manhattan, well today they told him he was being transferred to work at...........

CITI FIELD!!! aka the new Shea Stadium!!!

he reports there tomorrow!! he comes from a huge Mets family so its pretty awesome he can feel like he had a hand in building it!! although he doesn't quite see it that way yet (he's a little bummed b/c he'll be doing data cabling work which is a little boring for him!).

this is so awesome!!! esp. since we live in Queens so now he can avoid the crappy A train that he usually takes to work!

ETA- DH worked his first day there today, and Fred Wilpon walked by w/ 'a bunch of suits' (his terminology not mine!! lol).....they were on break and he joked around w/ them and asked to have a bite of DH's co-workers sandwich I'm sure he could afford his own sammich though

Yay for your DH! My DH worked on the new Mets stadium over the summer. He's a carpenter working on the hoists. Anyway, he comes home one day and tells me he met 'some guy' named 'Tom Glavin' or 'something sounding like that' . As a lifelong Mets fan, I swooned and nearly died! Turns out, Glavin was the union shop steward for the Mets and he came over to say hello and for a little PR.

DH is a soccer fan, not a baseball fan. He could care less!

Anyway, hope your DH enjoys building a bit of history and gets to enjoy the easy commute!
