How DH knew he wanted to marry me....

he decided he would take a bullet for me

We were discussing some non-married friends of ours having relationship problems. He told me that years ago when he was upset about a breakup, his cousin said 'put it this way, would you take a bullet for this girl?' And he had to think about it and decided no, he wouldn't. He said he knew very early on that he would take a bullet for me and that's how he knew I was the one for him Gotta love that rationale. How sweet

Has DH ever told you when it was he knew he wanted to marry you?

i went to belgium for 9 days for new years back in dec 2004/ jan 2005....and DH stayed behind. ( went with 1 sister to visit my other sister and niece)

during those 9 days---he realized how much he loved me cause we weren't able to really talk much and he didn't havea computer for us to IM each other. so he would have to use his cell phone to send IMs and emails which would take him FOREVER. he said he never realized how much he needed to hear my voice everyday---and he actually cried cause he missed me so much that new year's eve.

two months after that---he proposed!

Awww Slightly more sentimental than my story

for us, we have been through so much together.. when DH mother was in the hospital for a couple months with cancer, i was there everyday! he does not have much family.. nobody was visiting her.. if DH had to work, i would be there in a heartbeat to visit!! he just saw the love that we shared and knew that one day he wanted to marry me and have a family!!

Ours isn’t the most sentimental of stories…

Dh always wanted to marry me. From month 3 he told me those were his intentions. BUT he wanted it to be “:deal”, meaning me getting out of school in 2 years rather than taking classes half time, us living together in our own place and not his parent’s basement..he wanted the perfect world which unfortunately rarely exists. So to make a very long story short, we were out at a friends wedding and I didn’t know these people. He was nervous because they’re all wealthy folks (but sooo nice) and I guess he was already feeling inadequate. So when the 3rd person of the night (father of the groom) asked us when we were getting married since it was over 3 years, he exploded with such a violent negative outburst about how we weren’t getting married anytime soon, that the grooms father later pulled me to the side and apologized till I wanted to die.

Things got really bad for awhile because he wanted his perfection and I was willing to roll with the punches. We had the means so why WOULDN’T we get married? I only had to classes left to take anyway, So we argued for months and I finally decided to leave him. Only when I announced my decision and was resolutely sticking to it, did he finally realize how much he would lose and how unwilling he was to let me go over pride.

I will always be grateful to our best man who told DH in no uncertain terms that he liked me, his wife liked me and they’d never liked any of his exes. He told him and I quote lol cause he said this at the wedding! “You love her. So get your head out of your @ss man cause you got some **** in your eye that’s making you stupid.”

It was rocky at first even after I said yes because I almost felt he’d been coerced, but each time I tried to pull back he wouldn’t let me. The day we got our marriage lisence in the mail he held it up and said “HAH you’re ALL mine now legally! Can’t take off now because NJ divorce laws are a b*tch and we’d have to cut Simon (our kitten) in half. Do you want that on your conscience?”

I laughed and finally accepted yep, we’re together till the end and we’re happy about it.

AWWWW! Dh has a love affair with ym @ss too lol. Ah boys and their booties

Because we hit it off from the moment we met, starting living together, and I never pressured him about marriage and I once told him that I loved him so much that I didn't care if we ever got married. He also told me that he loved the fact that I could have a coherent conversation with him and how I cared for him no matter what. I really think it was the no pressure thing...he proposed a few months after.

But when I knew I had to marry him: I had a cat (her name was Mouse)...she was 14 and I had her since I was 12. She was my baby and I started noticing that she was vomiting a lot and had a lump under her fur. DH took her to the emergency vet with me, where we found out that it was just a matter of time. He held me while I screamed and cried and shelled out a lot of time and money for meds to keep her comfy in her final days...he was incredible all through this. We had to put her down and he proposed a few weeks later.
