I got all my proofs today and don't know where to start?? Did you go in order of the day? Have mostly posed pics or a mix of posed and candids? Mostly color or a mix of color & B&W? Did you do all 8x10 pics or did you mix it up and put a collage or 2? HELP!

Re: How did you pick pics for your album?
I set my album up in order of the day...sort of telling the wedding story. It started with our invitation then me getting ready, the church, portraits of family, bridal party and us and then reception shots (candids and special events like toast, cake cutting, parent dances, etc.). I ended with a cute picture of our hands clasped.
I think what you include is a matter of person preference. Although I loved my candids the most, I wound up with mostly posed shots (color)...it just worked for me. Although I did include a bunch of candids and a couple black and white. I did mostly full size shots but I did one collage page that included all little details of the night (cake, table setting, flowers, etc.).
I was overwhelmed at first when picking out the shots but then when I sat down to do it I found it rather easy. I kind of sorted the pictures into categories and then picked my favorites from there.
I had a really good/experienced woman who helped coordinate our book (the day we submitted our pictures) and she helped fix the order we selected and told us what we were missing and what other options we had. We were there for over two hours!!
Good Luck and have fun!!!

Re: How did you pick pics for your album?
I put all the pics in order of the day ... picked out the pics I liked most that represented each event. Narrowed it down -- and the photographer basically went through the pics we chose and said which should go 2 on a page etc. The hardest part is getting started! Good luck!

Re: How did you pick pics for your album?
Not doing a traditional album so my process would be different than yours but:
- Did you go in order of the day? ABSOLUTELY
- Have mostly posed pics or a mix of posed and candids? 99.9% candids, only 1 posed photo that I can think of
- Mostly color or a mix of color & B&W? A mix with a heavy preference on B&W
- Did you do all 8x10 pics or did you mix it up and put a collage or 2? ALMOST ALL COLLAGES. I have way too many photos I want to include to use a whole page on one photo. I will do that for 2 or 3 photos at most.

Re: How did you pick pics for your album?
my proofs already came in a leather bound album in the order of the day - which made it very easy to go from there. I also started out with teh invitation, getting ready, bms, then the guys, ceremony and so on. When I picked my package, I upgraded to 100 photos with 50 being 10x10. The rest are a mix.
I have some 10x10, 8x10 (each alone on a page), 2 5x7 on a page, 4 5x5 on a page etc.... All of those are matted in either squares, ovals, circles or octagons. We even have a panoramic - taking up 2 pages.
It is all a mix of color and b&w, candids and posed.

Re: How did you pick pics for your album?
First I looked thru ALL of my proofs a few times, each time taking out the photos with someone's eyes closed or those 'I hate myself' in photos. I had 2 boxes; Proofs I like a lot, Proofs I wouldn't use in an album or hang on my wall. Then I put all of the proofs into catagories; Getting Ready, Formal Family Photos, Ceremony, Michele& Scott photos, Reception. Then I put those photos into a basic order (cake cutting was almost the last photos). Then I gave each mother and myself mini-post it notes. Everyone had their own color to use. I used the notes to stick to the back of the photos and began to narrow down the photos into 'Must Have' and 'Maybe'. The moms did that too until they narrowed it down to the photos they loved the most. I took everything to Mark Kauffman's office and worked with him to chose the photos that best reflected the day and that worked well together.

Re: How did you pick pics for your album?
I have my appt tomorrow to pick our pictures for the album. I haven't picked any but have a good idea of the shots we both LOVE. My photographer is amazing and I know she will work with me to create something amazing. I wish we could afford the digital album but really, it's SO expensive- an extra $1500 clams that we don't have. We also have all the selections for the 3 parent's albums and all the reprints for friends and family (we are giving each BM a 5 x 7) and the parents each get an 8 x 10... as well as my grandparents.. I don't even want to now how many extras we'll have to pay for due to my large family...

Re: How did you pick pics for your album?
We set up ours in order of the day... from morning until evening. There were a few shots that were similar and we line them up side by side to determine the best one and put one in our album by process of elimination. For example, we had about 5 similar shots with me and my BM's at my mother's house in the morning--some candid and some formal. We line them side by side to exam them closely and pick out the best one by process of elimination.
We put a mix of formal and candid shots in our album and all were in color. For my mother's album we put all formal shots also by day order as she's traditional and does not like candid shots. Our proofs have numbers on the bottom and we shown them to our parents and they called out numbers and we wrote them down. We gave the numbers to the album designer at Cassarino Studios and he set up the pictures and we look at it a few times to be comfortable with the order of pics. IMHO, putting them in day order is nice as it tells a wedding story for consistently. A beginning photo was our invitation and an ending one was us side by side together.
I also set my proofs up in order of the day...then I put them in an album...so I could look at them easier...I tool out any picture that I thought I would want in my album (way too many)...
I was lucky since my sister had done this for a living years ago...and we sat on the floor and laid out the album...we looked for a good statrting picture...we chose our hands holding each others...then we tried to stick to the day as best as we could...you also want to remember that the pages that are next to each other can/should have related pictures...also remember thsi is a book of you and your DH...I took out tons of pictures of the BP and others...but in the end I narrowed it down to more of us and less of them (you don't need the BP walking down the aisle AND walking into the reception hall)...while we were laying it out...we thought of different sizes...
the most important thing that I did after this was I created my own layout on a piece of paper...I wrote down exactly where each one went and the size them should be
I think I used about 50% b/w and I have maybe 5-6 full 8x10s

Did the same thing..went in the order of events. Then I took out all the ones I HATED, which werent many, but the ones I knew I didnt want in the album, and went from there according to size. It was tough...but if you dwell on each picture.. it will be a pain.
