How do I write check out to couple w/ girl not changing her name?

I'm assuming I write it to 'Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jane Doe'. Is that right?
Thanks!

if you don't know whether they have separate or joint bank accounts, write either his name or her maiden name

DH and I had separate accounts and I kept my name so I had a hard time cashing the checks that were made out to me with my NEW last name because there was no such person in either bank's eyes!

Re: How do I write check out to couple w/ girl not changing her name?

Just do her name alone. Much easier - if you put both, BOTH of them have to sign it. They'll know it's for the both of them. When we were signing checks, we LOVED the people who just used one of our names and HATED the people who did Mr. and Mrs. HisFirst Hislast, cause I still had to sign it, but since I'm not changing my name, who's Mrs. HisLast? I signed my regular name and they went through, but it was a little annoying.

OK - I'll just put her name. I have a feeling they have separate accounts, so it probably will be easier for them. Thanks!

I agree. We tried to deposit checks right after the wedding and we were told we couldn't because the checks were made out to Mr. & Mrs. and without the marriage certificate, we didn't exist.

GO CASH!!

I agree to pick one person or the other - much easier!

we had a lot of checks to Mr & Mrs, and of course my name hadn't changed yet.. so i signed mrs.xxx, and they went through.

Of course cash was easiest!! :)
