How do you clean staiinless steel pots?

I fried up some meatballs the other day and it left some serious stains on my brand new pots that are not coming off for the life of me. Any suggestions?

This happened to us too. We have all -clad and we were mad they got so stained. We use 'BARKEEPERS FRIEND'. Its amazing. A friend of us told us about it and my mother-in=law also gave me a can. Its a powder stugg-looks almost like COMET but its made for stainelss steel so it works on silverware also. You make a paste of it on a paper towel and rub it in then follow directions. Smells bad but it takes off all those like weird water/oil stains and amkes them look like new. Its cheap too. Let me know how it works.

I have stainless steel pots as well and the directions from the box of pots says something about boiling a small about of dishwashing fluid mixed in water in the pot. I'll try to find the directions to tell you exactly what to do.

Also, I find putting my pots in the dishwasher eliminates the stains much better than when I wash them by hand.

Yeah, I tried that. It's really good for gunked on food and what not. But these are like grease stains. I don't know how to describe them. And unfortunately, I am the dishwasher.

I bought this earth-friendly version of soft scrub (I buy it in fairway, I think it's called Ecover creme scrub?).... this stuff is AMAZING. works better than soft scrub!

I have stainless pots (a european version of all-clad) which get these brown stains on the bottom, where the gas flame likely hits a dribble of food, and to date, this stuff is the only cleanser that takes it off. It also removes that wierd milky film that you get on mirror-smooth stainless pot interiors....

I never tried the stuff Petey's bride mentioned, though... I'll try that stuff too.....

have you tried baking soda? it works like a charm. moisten the pot and then throw some baking soda in there.... you can let it soak for awhile or scrub it using the baking soda. works wonders...

the same thing happened to our Calphalon pans and we also used BARKEEPER's Friend -- it works great!! gets rid of any stains without harming the pan.

It worked on our silverware too-stainless looks great but SUCH a pain in the butt to keep clean and shiny because it gets those weird water and oil spots. We use barkeepers friend like once a week on all our pans and the stainelss steel silverware to keep them looking shiny.
