When someone wants to 'compare notes' on your wedding. Last night someone who also recently got married asked me lots of financial questions, like 'did you profit from your wedding? How much did you get in total?'
I gave vague answers bc I wasnt comfortable telling them those things? What is a good response other than Mind your own darn beeswax?

I don't like that question myself and would probably avoid it by changing the subject or saying I DON'T KNOW!
I don't like that question because I didn't have my wedding to profit from it or make back what I spent. I had the wedding I had because that is what I wanted.

I never gave numbers. I just said 'our guests were very generous. No one EVER 'profits' from a wedding- us included'
If the person pushes, I lie and say I don't even know the total.

How about something like 'you, know, once the wedding was over, I didn't really look at that stuff again. The planning was so stressful that I was glad to put it aside and not have to think about it again'
if people are really insistent, I usually say I don't remember or I am not sure....

I agree--I can't stand this 'how did you make out?' question. You never really get back what you put out in total, and getting money back isn't the point anyway. I just tell people we were very happy with the gifts we received. Which is true--I think most people were very generous. Some didn't give huge amounts in $$$, but I know they don't have much money, and they gave quite generously when you look at it that way.

Not only is it a question that I don't like but I also think it is an EXTREMELY RUDE question for someone to ask you!

Tell people that you just had your guests make donations to some charity...and say you really didnt need the money!

If this person gave u 200 dollars tell them your avg gift was 400. this should shut them up quick... ; )
