How has DH gone above and beyond for you lately?

Original post by julesrbf

I have been having a really hard time lately, as some of you know, with my job. I work in a toxic environment and before the wedding I had planned to just quit without having another job lined up, it was that bad. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I'm way too responsible to do something like that and ultimately couldn't bring myself to leave a perfectly 'good' job in the current economic climate.

Well on Friday, the proverbial $hit hit the fan with my job and to say I was upset is quite an understatement. I spent the last two hours of my day at work crying, and then DH came to pick me up and I cried pretty much the rest of the night. Things have come to a head here and DH has assured me that whatever decision I come to, he supports me 110% percent and we'll make it work.

All weekend he was going out of his way to do what I wanted to do, eat what I wanted to eat, etc. because he knew I just wasn't in decision making mode and, if left to my own devices, I probably would have sat on the couch crying all weekend.

Yesterday I woke up to DH rubbing my back in bed. He was gently trying to coax me to get out of bed and I was being cranky and not wanting to. And then the smell of pancakes hit me - my DH had stealthily gotten out of bed before me, made me a pancake breakfast, and cued up my FAVORITE Christmas-time movie, Love Actually.

I pretty much fell all over myself thanking him all day yesterday. He kept saying, 'It's only pancakes!' but it's so much more than that. It truly is the little things in life that make you appreciate how much someone loves you and wants you to be happy.

What is something your DH has done recently to make you remember just how lucky you are to have him?

this is not an above and beyond but this just made me laugh. . DH just called after a job interview and said he was getting a card to send as a thank you and did I need anything at the drugstore - so I say 'tampons please' he sighs and says okay

ten seconds later the phone rings and I see it is him so I answer the phone and say 'super tampax' and he just starts cracking up - then says thanks and hangs up. . .

I am loving these sweet DH stories - they are really making me smile!

Aww that's so sweet!

DH did the grocery shopping on Friday when he was off and made the bed and had the chicken marinating by the time I got home...I still had to ultimately cook it, but baby steps LOL.

I love hearing these things. They make me smile.

DH is always doing sweet stuff like making my lunch for the next day when I get home late, etc. But last night I had to meet him at a party. I got there after him and saw him waving to me when I walked in (it was a big room). I could see how he face lit up when he saw me and it made me feel so good.

Then later on last night when we got home he came into the bedroom and said how it is so awesome that he married his best friend and that he was like a little kid on Christmas morning when he saw me walk into the party. There was no one else that he would rather talk to than me. He was so excited to see me that he actually almost jumped up and down.

I love my DH.

I'm scratching my head trying to think of anything cute DH has done lately....not coming up with anything.

Well, this was about a month ago but most of you know I had some surgical procedures done that hadn't gone very well and the recovery was painful, longer than expected and emotional because I got very cranky lol.

One day he called me on his way home and told me he was going to be at least another hour late. I bi tch ed and moaned because he's always working later and later. He came home with a build-a-bear. It was this dog with a hospital gown, bunny slippers, tissues, a thermometer and a get well soon car. It was a little dog that I named 'sick puppy' and it was really sweet. He told me he wanted to do it sooner but I was too ill for him to walk out and go get a stuffed animal.

It's moments like this that I have to try to hold on to for when he is being a j@ck@ss!

DH and I both work full time jobs, but he has been doing alot of OT so I tend to take over most of the household work.

Two of my family members have been seriously sick and between running to the hospital, making phone calls, grandma sitting, etc I am completely worn out. DH has been helping with the laundry, making dinner, and even doing some light cleaning (i dont trust him to clean like I clean lol). And on top of all that he has been my rock throughout everything. I dont know where he finds the energy!

DH always goes above & beyond but now that im preggo aww he is even cuter. Even when at 1030 at night i got a crazy vanilla milk shake craving & he ran out & got it. But honestly he is just teh best ever! Always. xoxoxoxo

AWW!!!! that is so sweet! wait till you get farther along! DH is all over me to make sure i don't need help and i don't over exert myself. and he was on the phone with our sister in law and he kept telling her that right now, i'm the most important thing and he constantly thinks ' is she ok' when i'm not with him.

SOO sweet!!

Awww super cute. Sweet.
We had some bad news of a friend that lost the baby & she was about 2 weeks further then me. DH just keeps saying babe please be careful dont worry about anything. Just take it easy. It is kinda sweet. But i felt so terrible for our friends. So sad. But good news one of my best friend is prego & she is due a month after me. So yay!
