How is everyone?

How is everyone?

Not much posted here in the last week or so..
I am guessing that we are all dealing with the 9/11 tradgedy as best as we can.

I still am experieincing problems concentrating and I keep thinking about all those poor souls...and the rescue workers as well.

As an amateur radio operators, Rob & I volunteered last sat and pulled a 24 hour shift aiding in communications bet Red Cross, Mayors office, Port Authority engineers, the Army, Navy, etc.
We receieved priority clearance and were stationed in the Hot Zone.
Too much for words.

How are all of you doing?

How is everyone?

I feel like I'm bouncing between high and low emotions as we deal with a range of good and bad news on several fronts. The emotion of the events of the 11th and beyond have been hard to understand. Hubby's young cousin is an Army Ranger and his Scout/Recon unit is being deployed any day now. And on a family front, just before the attacks my uncle was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor and just this past weekend, his daughter (my cousin who is my age) had her husband rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery due to complications from medications prescribed by two different doctors. They don't think he will survive. Add that to Hubby's worries about money as my job ends October 12th and our plans to move back to NY or to AZ...

But the good news!!! My uncle's oldest son was married on Sept. 1st - a very happy occasion as he had lost his first wife to a long battle with cancer about 3 years ago, and his two new sons are taking to 'their new mommy' very well. And my uncle's youngest son and his wife are expecting their first baby - a son due in February. And the doctors have now recommended surgery that may buy my uncle as much as a year's time - so we're praying he'll be around for the birth. So there is happy news too, and I'm just trying to keep to my regular schedule and do what I would normally do...

Years ago I cut out an article from a magazine and it said in times of crisis you only need to do 3 things - keep your appointments, answer your mail, and return your phone calls. If you can do all that you will get through the crisis and the rest will manage itself. So I keep that in mind and just keep going forward with my routines.

Positive attitude...

Thanks Phyl;

Fortunately, I`ve always had a pretty positive outlook on things. I tease hubby that while I see the glass half full, he sees it as half empty - with a crack in it!

I`m not the least bit worried about the job situation - I know that I`ll be able to find a job somewhere doing something - I`m just holding out as long as I can to find the perfect fit. And I have a good severance package which helps!

The worst is the 'waiting' to get past this rough spot. I`m impatient to get on with life. I want to be settled somewhere in our own home - not this 'up in the air' period where we don`t know where we`ll be living - I feel like everything is on hold and I hate it! I just wish I could fast-forward a few months here. And of course all the other family worries don`t help. We`re still praying for my cousin`s husband and I haven`t heard anything since this past weekend, so I`m hoping that no news is good news and that every day is a day closer to recovering.

Oh well - one day at a time. Right after my last day at work we are going to the White Mountains to the Mt. Washington Hotel for a few days of R&R and Leaf-Peeping - that`s something good to look forward to!

Anyway - thanks for your words of support. Hubby is going to try to call your financial planner later this afternoon.

Positive attitude makes a difference

The trip sounds like just what you need.
I hope that you & hubby find Bill as helpful
and skillful as Rob & I do.
Let me know your thoughts...
