How long did it take for your Parents

to pick their pics for the album??

My mom picked theirs already, and we dropped off the pics at my in laws, and they looked thru them once, and siad they have to look again, and they haven't picked yet. It has been a week, and i want the book back, so that I can look again for the Thank you. I will bring them back after I relook at the TY's, but my DH thinks I am being ridicoulous, because they only had them a week. It took my mom 2 days to pick hers. And the thing is, it took her 9 months to look for photo albums of her son, and then wanted me to pick what i wanted the day before the wedding. Then when we finally looked at her books, she only had a range of 2 years of DH's likfe, and it took her 5 weeks to get more books. SHe knew where they were, just ahd to get them. They are so lazy, and I want to pick my TY and my pics for our album.

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

Well DH told me we were going over there so she could pick them. MIL was like, oh i thought you were just dropping them off, so already i feel that I was mislead, as to the whole process.

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

My MIL never picked hers. She procrastinated so much (and she lives 10 minutes away)
I called her every weekend for 2 months, then finally picked them myself for her. So what she gets is what she better like

My Dad came over when I told him to and picked his picks - no problem

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

I did similar to Nikki. We picked a day for each of them to see the pictures and pick. (this wasn't the 1st time the saw them either.) I helped my mom and DH helped his. Completed in a couple hours each. We didn't let either side have the pictures over night.

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

I didn't want to leave them over night, she kind of made us feel that we should, and DH fell for it, we both said before she will nned to be guided through the process. My mom lives with us, so we didn't have to leave them with her.

I hate having to wait for people to do things.

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

push push push...people don't understand that you want to get them right away...and it takes forever...

my SIL wanted me to leave them with her so she could scan them in...and I didn't like it (but I did it)...then she got drunk and didn't do it...and wanted me to leave the albums for longer!!! NO WAY!!!

I sat down with my mom...and we were lucky with MIL...since she was out of the country...we picked for her...

DH just thinks i am annoyed because it is his family!!

I am annoyed because they are lazy, has nothing to do with who's side it is, I can't stand laziness.

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

ugh, my MIL took MONTHS!

her father died soon after our wedding and there was a bunch of chaos going on in the family (with inheritance and strange italian rules) so she kept saying she couldn't concentrate on picking pictures...

Our wedding was in April, we ordered our album in January! (keep in mind some of the delay was due to us in SF).

But don't rush through the picture picking process. Though we were forced to have all this time, I think we have a better album for it. Our ideas and pictures choices changed once we had some distance.

I don't think a week is too long, but if you need to pick out a thank you, take the book back and pick one. She can then look again once the pressure is off you.

We chose the pictures for our parent's albums... since it was a gift from us, we just thought it was nice if we would surprise them...

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

We are actually going to meet with our photog to do our album over the Thanksgiving holiday since this is really the first we'll be in town to do so. As to our parents, who knows MIL has had the proofs TWICE now and still can't make a decision and my parents really haven't even had the chance to go through them yet. They looked at them once, when they first came in and said, 'Wow, this is going to be tough!' My dad even said he wanted to ADD AN ALBUM so he could have one that's just of ME (I don't know if that is sweet or scary!).

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

When dealing with the parents picking pictures for their albums, I made sure that I had my Thank you picture picked and all the pictures for my album before I let them have the proofs. Then when I dropped the proofs off to my MIL and Mother I told both of them that they only had exactly one week to pick out the pictures for their albums. if they did not decide by then, I was planning on choosing the pictures for them. It worked out perfectly for me because they both had them done when I asked for them and I still had time to go over my pictures again to make sure those were the ones I wanted in my album.

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

I got the pics back, even though I stayed with my original TY card pic. She told my DH that she was picking on Thanksgiving, hopefully she has them done, because I am taking my books back that night. I miss them!!!

Re: How long did it take for your Parents

It took each almost a whole day--separately shown to both sets of parents to prevent disagreements/disputes. 2 days total. MIL was particular about what photo to use for our TY cards and she was also particular to use certain style/type of TY cards.

Cassarino Studios was our photography and videographer. We got our photo imprinted on the card with custom text thank you message, our names and wedding date imprinted on the card. I find this more modern and unique rather than having the typical window slots for a wallet size photo. How many guests actually carry photos of the couple in their wallets? Most put it in a box or stuff it in their desk drawers along with other greeting cards. We thought having the typical window slot for a wallet size photo was outdated and boring. Just my 2 cents.
