Im just wondering because DH's cousin got married in December, Us in March.
She asked me to please hold off sending mine till she got hers out...I mean is it my fault shes lazy?
I got my shower thank yous out in a week...What is the big deal?
She waited 8 months, but why should I? ( well, Im not actually) ...but ering if I'm just faster at things, and thats a normal time frame?
I should have mine done in about 2 weeks..So 5 months for me.

JMO- but I think that is rude of her...I would send yours out just as soon as you are ready...it's not your fault she is taking a long time!

Six weeks for gifts received at or before the wedding. Upon receipt of gifts for others.

I wondered about this. Some etiquette book said two weeks for gifts received prior to the wedding, four weeks for anything after.
Two weeks seemed way too short to me though, plus in the week or two prior to the wedding, we had very little time to spare. My shower thank yous are done, and we wrote thank yous to our parents. It sounds as if I can take some time with the others though.

Two weeks is absolutely ridiculous. Mine are not done yet but I plan to have them out by the 6 mth mark. It's longer than I would have like but what am I going to do about it now?

Thanks for the info. I thought it sounded ridiculous. I think some of the etiquette books are in serious need of revision. They don't seem to take modern lifestyles, work schedules, etc. into account at all.
Within six months of the wedding seems fine to me.

I did send out Thank yous before the wedding for gifts that came, because I wanted the sender to be sure that we received them.
Ours were out in 2 months. I would have had them out within 4 weeks if we didn't have the photo thank yous. We had a tough time getting an appointment with the photographer and didn't get the photos until about 6 weeks after the wedding. I think this is also a NY area thing. My friends and family who live in other parts of the country don't do the photo thank you from the photographer's photos.
I think you should send them out when you are done and not worry about your SIL. Just because she is being inconsiderate, she shouldn't expect you to act the same way.

I mailed mine out about 6 weeks after the wedding. Friends of ours had gotten married 2 1/2 months before us and ours went out first to a lot of the same people and they didn't care--what's the big deal?!

We sent ours out about two weeks ago, except for the vendor thank yous. So about 2 months. I wanted to get mine out before my cousin's wedding this weekend.

Wedding: 6/11/05 Started TY's: 6/28/05 Finished TY's: 7/25/05
I ordered mine last night, so in about 2 weeks I will start writing them out so I guess at the 3 month mark they will go out.

we should have ours out next week. i just moved so i had to stop writing them but i have all the lists, stamps, cards...just need to keep going--SO that puts me shy of three months-but we'll say three months just in case i don't get them out next week !
