I am dreading going to the DMV because I can already see it taking a long time.
My question is what exactly do I need to bring with me and approximately how long should I be prepared to be sitting there for?

I think you need to go to SS first. DId you doi taht? Then youneed to brign your SS c ard & marraige license, or so I have been told. And your old license. I have to do this soon, too.
So far I did SS, Visa, & Health Insurance

I went to the dmv first. I downloaded the paers off the internet first and then maybe waited a total of 15 minutes at the dmv. I did not change my ss until 4 months later. Than I went to the bank and changed it.

If I remember, I don't thik it took that long at all - well, except waiting for my number to be called, but that's expected. I think I brought my old license, my marriage certificate and I think that was it - maybe my SS card? You should try checking out what you need online - I think you can even print out forms there, so maybe you can have it all filled in before you get there. It really wasn't too much of a pain.

I recently received my SS card in the mail. My name was changed over the phone for all insurances, and some bills.
