we didn't put a price limit but we are trying to save for a house...so we can't afford to go crazy. I spent $100 (got a deal) when the gift is over $150.

This year we are cutting back. He always goes overboard and spends about $500 I think, way more than I usually spend on him, but this year I really do think we are only spending $150 or so each. I will spend $200 most likely. $170 on an ipod and $30 or so on stocking stuffers.

we we're going to go crazy and buy each other BIG gifts in the $1k range this year. .. .
BUT now we're buying a house so we decided to go smaller - I still spent around $400 on him though with everything combined - I can't complain we're giving each other *hopefully* what we wanted more then anything else this year - a house!

A few months before the wedding we said let's go all out for wedding gifts and then less than $200 for Christmas this year. I found his gift for a lot cheaper than I thought I could online so I had a little more to spend on sweaters and stuff.

DH and I figured this will be our last Christmas in an apartment and next year we'll have lots of house bills, so we went a little overboard. Actually, we love to give gifts, so we always go overboard, but we promised that this would be the last year of it!!!

I voted other -- We are in the process of buying a house, so that is our gift to each other. We agreed that anything we give each other that day - if at all - should either be homemade or something we need for the house.
Edited to add: His birthday is 4 days after Christmas too so I am more focused on that!

Maybe I'll pick him up something very small- but we just moved into a nicer but more expensive apartment and have decided that since we went away for our anniversary in Nov we don't need to spend a lot for the holidays.
