How much do BP members usually contribute to the shower?

My MOH is my super-clueless sister (she's also very young and this is her first bridal party membership). She doesn't know hopw much she should expect from my other BP members, and frankly, either do I!

If the cost of the shower comes to, say, $1,000, should my sister pay $500 (which, by the way, will really come form my mom) and ask the BP to split the rest? (there are 5 BMs).

Anytime I was in a BP we just split it all evenly, but sometimes we had help from a mom. I think I am being too controlling on this, but I really don't want anyone to be inconvenienced or feel burdened by the cost.

For every wedding I have been in for the past 5 years we all just split the bill up.

My BMs didn't contribute anything (they should've!)

My MOH and mother split the bill.

Mine didn't either...my mom paid for the whole thing. And my 18 yr old sister was my MOH so she didn't chip in. I felt bad.

my brother who was my man of honor and one of my other bridesmaids chipped in but the rest didnt my mom paid for most of it and i also felt bad

My MOH paid for the shower herself with some contributions (like the cost of favors or the cake, etc) from the bridesmaids.

Im her MOH now and I will be doing the same thing.

In my circle it seems that most mothers pay for the shower...failing that, the MOH pays for most and the other BMs contribute what they can.

My MOH's were my 2 sisters (15 and 26 years old at the time). My mom, MIL and the other 2 girls & the older of the sisters split things up. I am not sure exactly to what degree.. but they did share things. The 15 year olds ONLY job was to keep me busy in the morning (I happened to take her along on some wedding erands as a matter of fact!!) and to get me there on time! (Whicj I made her fail at miserably because I was stubborn!!)

My two sisters were my only bridal party, we had a small wedding, so they and my mom had a beautiful shower for me. But anytime I was in a wedidng pary, we just split the cost evenly. the MOH was never responsible for more, hope this helps!!!

Like Sonic in my circle the mom pays for it... my mom paid for mine and the two weddings I was in was the same.

It really depends.....
I was in one wedding party where we split it evenly and another where the brides father only asked us for $60 each.
For my shower my mom paid for the whole thing.

For my shower, my mom paid for the whole thing. The BP only gave me a gift.

For the other BP I have been in, it has gone both ways. The last shower I paid about $120, and that was including the gift that we all got her.
