While I agree that location's a factor, the fact that it's in a basement is a bigger factor for me, so I'm going with the lower bracket.

Re: How much would you pay, or do you pay
Ours was a brand new (2 years old) 2 bedroom basement apartment and we paid $1000 a month for everything. We only paid for our phone service.
Personally, I wouldn't go any higher than $1200 for a basement.

I pay $1200 for a 2 bedroom house with a fenced yard and everything new inside , so I would say less.

Re: How much would you pay, or do you pay
I was paying $900 for a 1 bedroom big basement apartment w/ an eat in kitchen in Whitestone.
Personally I wouldn't go higher than 1100.

I do think location matters but, I also think bc it is a basement it should be no more then 1200 regardless of where it is. Ive seen 2 bdrm houses for 1500 so I would judge what u are looking at and what u are looking for.

I would not pay more than $800 for a basement apartment. That's just me. You can find apartments for $1200 that are not basement and are nice.

Would you pay more for a basement apartment if you had your own washer/dryer?

Thanks Ladies...I think washer/dryer makes a diff., and leting pets live in teh apt. could probably get you more money too...

Re: How much would you pay, or do you pay
We just bought a house in Seaford and are making a one bedroom apartment in our basement. Its all brand new - and I know what a pain it is to not have a washer/dryer in an apartment which is why I wanted to include one for our tenants.
Do you know of anyone looking for a place?

Re: How much would you pay, or do you pay
I say about 1300-1400. Right now we are paying $830 for everything in a small 1BR basement apartment with a Huge OVERSIZED bedroom but a tiny LR/KIT combo & bathroom. The landlord is pretty much family though. DH has known them all his life and they built this apartment just for us, actually we designed it ourselves. They will rent it out for about 1000 a month after we move out.
Location does have alot to do with it as well, Apartments/Homes in Nassau go for much more than in Suffolk. So an apartment going for 1200 in Suffolk County would probably go for around 1400 in Nassau. The closer to Manhattan the more expensive things get. UNFORTUNAELY

Just wondering where everyone is finding 2bdrms for 1200? I am in a 1bdrm for 1000. 2 bdrm for 1200 sounds great! we would love to increase our space.

We just rented our downstairs one-bedroom apartment in White Plains for $1100. We could have gotten $1300 but we rented to a friend and $1100 was all he could afford.
