DH's family is from Italy and he also speaks Italian. We are trying to plan a trip to Italy this spring to visit his family. I really wanted to learn Italian because I want him to teach our kids it when they are young and now that we are going there I think now is a great time to start. The problem is I dont know how to learn. I looked up this one program and it is a couple of hundred dollars which I cannot afford right now. Also, I want to learn on my own and not DH or his family because I need to learn how to write the words and the correct grammar.
ANy ideas?

Re: How to Learn a Language
Someone I worked with taught himself using a CD too. I don't think it was Rosetta Stone...don't remember. Sorry I don't have any other suggestion other than looking into a class at a college. Have you checked on Barnes & Noble?

Re: How to Learn a Language
check out your itunes - they have some free lessons. when I went to italy I looked up and found some beginner to advanced italian lessons that you can download onto your ipod. I was pretty surprised they were free.
