Re: How would you describe your inlaws marriage?
Definitely tolerate each other. They dont even seem like friends...but they are old school not to mention the way they live is so entrenched in the typical housewife/typical italian guy models that could never function without each other.

I voted, they tolerate each other. It is so sad that people stay together b/c it is convienent. Don't ask me why, but that is the way life is. They lead 2 separate lives, she travels with her children all the time and he stays home or goes to visit his children. Her children shows him so little respect so he does not come around much for any family gatherings. When I went to spend time with them last year, I watched them interact and it was the most uncomfortable situation to be around. Not saying they do not care about each other, but there were no hugs, kind words or any affection. I don't know when it happened, but they are just companions together in the house.

I picked they tolerate each other.
FIL loves his wife very much, she is the one that is like ehhh, she shows no feeling and my FIL jokes that the last time they got busy was when their 27 year old was conceived.

It's a mystery to me - FIL says he's happy and who am I to say otherwise unless I walked in his shoes.

Totally, completely blind in love with eachother, and their family. They live for taking care of eachother and their children and mean every single ounce of it. If my marriage is 1/8 of what they have it will be a success!
Now my parents on the other hand....

That's my inlaws. Married on valentine's day 45 years ago. So in love today.....
My parents will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary at teh end of this month, and although they've had their ups and downs, they still love each other more so than they did at first.
We are very lucky to have 2 great sets of parents who are able to show us what is so great about marriage.

I tell my DH all the time that I want us to be like his parents when we get to their ages.
They are married almost 57 years.

These are my In-Laws completely. My parents too are celebrating their 38th aniversary this month, and are still affectionate and loving towards each other.

there really isnt an option on the poll for my In-laws. My FIL lives in El Salvador and my MIL is in Flushing. Its been that way for at least 14 years so I guess its working for them!! They have only seen each other a handful of times over those years.

pretty healthy, they're a strong couple. but lacking in the loving department. but i guess that's what our old school culture dictated back then, so can't base my judgements on that.
