How would you feel, and how would you handle?

If you sent out your invites...and one of your co-workers you did not invite with a guest.
The co-worker thinks it's an over sight, so he/she asks you if they can bring a guest??? (Of course we all know we think of every guest, so it is not an oversight.)

Opinions please??? Mad, obligated to say yes????

if its not a financial burden, I would include the guest of the co-worker

No i would say im keeping the reception small, or i am limited to only a certain number of seats...but be firm DONT let her bring a guest if you dont want to! its your day!

you are not obligated to say yes. Are there other people from the office that she will know? Are your other guests invited with guests? I think a rule like this should be across the board to prevent hurt feelings. (with exceptions for the bridal party & immediate family)

It all depends on your budget. We were VERY strict with everyone-we had to be, we had to say no to our parents who wanted to invite their friends, etc. If you can afford it, say yes. If not, be honest.

not obligated in the least. If you cannot afford to have her there with a date you cannot. As long as you have a table of fellow co-workers all should be well. I would not be offended if someone from here invited me w/o hubby. If it made us uncomfortable, instead of putting the person out, I would rather decline the invite, and send a gift. Hey but that's me

Thanks guys! I was just taking a poll as that's a situation going on at work. I personally don't think she should ask to bring her boyfriend if she was not invited with one. Some of us were, and some weren't. Only the girls w/ husbands/fiance's and serious boyfriends were- --

Thanks for the advice!!!

I dont think she should have asked, but I can't blame her since some of you were invited with guests.

If it is a significant other and you can afford to add one on to your list, I would let it go. If she want's to bring some random person then I would tell her that you are trying to stick to your budget and cannot add people to your list.

If a guest is married, engaged or living with someone than that person should be included BUT you are not obligated to invite 'just any guest'. You can just tell her 'I am very sorry but we have to be really careful with our head count so we are not inviting non-spouses as guests' Then she/he can decide if they still want to attend or not.

I don't think she should ask unless she is with someone in a very serious relationship and I don't think she is. It obviously wasn't an oversight if others were invited without guests.

I had a b-friend (early stages - actually about a year though) and was invited to a wedding without a guest. Annoying - yes but what can you do and a bunch of my friends ewre invited similarly so we went and had a blast.

People are all in different financial stages and you would not want to make someone obligated nor should the bride feel obligated.

Can you afford it...financially and spacewise in the hall...

also if they have been dating for a long time...i think they should be able to bring them...

I don't think i could ever say no...but the women here gave some good suggestions on what to say
