How would you word a Thank you

How would you word a Thank you

for someone who did not give you a gift at your wedding.

Can you believe that? I had a couple of guest come to my wedding and gave me nada.

I told my mom I should not even send them anything. But I realize that would be acting just as ignorant as them.

But I don't to thank them for a gift when they gave us nothing.

Should I just say thank you for attending and sharing our day.

To the few non-gifters in DH's family i was sure to send TY's to remind them that they came & couldn't even write a freakin card when i gave them as favors!!

They were all OOTers...so i wrote something like...

'So glad you guys could make it from so far and share in our special day. It meant alot to have you and so much of the family there to celebrate with us'..

What I wanted to write was...'you couldn't take one of the blank note cards & just write congrats after feeding you, your husband & two teenagers??? No gift is fine...but not even a freakin card??? What would Emily Post say???

haha...you can choose which one you'd like to work from..

We wrote our Thank yous out from our gift list. With the exception of 1 or 2 people we knew off the top of our heads that didn't give a gift we didn't write any other thank you's out.
We felt they would understand that we didn't want to have to put the energy into figuring out stiffed us if they didn't have the energy to spend 2.50 on a card and wite their names on it.

We did the same. If you can't even pick up a card on your way to the reception, why am I going to stress out on how to word your Thank You?
I'm not....your nor getting one.

We didn't send TYs to people that attended but didn't give a gift. They got to go to a great party and couldn't even get a card?!! We spent a lot of money for them to be there, so we just figured that was enough. Plus the rule is that they have a year to give you a present after your wedding, and if they do send a gift later on, we'll send a TY for that.

we're not sending thatnk yous to those who attended but stiffed us -- they got free food and booze....they dont need a thank you on top of it.

IMO... a gift is nice, but should not be expected! I may get flamed for this.... but a wedding is a celebration, not a fundraiser!

we have a few guests who came and enjoyed our wedding but did not give a gift... and we don't mind! we'll be sending thank yous... and thank them for coming and sharing in our day. we feel so blessed to have had everyone we love there with us... gift or no gift.

Oh no need to doing any flaming here. But no one mention anything about a wedding being a fundraiser. I don't need anyone's money, I have my own. But I do think it was of been nice to even give a card. I think it is rude to come and not give anything.

I agree 100%. Plus they got a favor with a note thanking them for attending, so I think that is enough. If they couldn't afford a gift I understand, but they could have at least gotten a card.

I just thanked those couples for coming to share our day. After they got them, 2 couples sent us gifts.

ETA: So now do I have to send them a TY for the gift??

Yes I think you should sent a TY for the gift, since it's seperate from coming to the wedding at this point.

I agree! In life it's all about showing up! They were invited to come to a wedding and they did!! The small print didn't say please bring a card. Yes, it would have been nice but I won't hold it against people that they did what we invited them to do. My mom has always said expect nothing and you will never be disappointed.
I would definitely send a thank you to thank them for coming and celebrating with you.
