Hubby never made it home last night....

Hubby is a chef at a catering hall (mentioned here very often), and because the show must go on and they had to finish prepping, he got stuck trying to get home last night. Now his car is god knows where, he had to sleep out, and somehow made it back there this a.m. I figured there would have been some cancelleations (no offense to the brides), but as of now...everythings going on. I think they have a few weddings today.

Now I'm worried how he's going to get home tonight, because they said that there's more snow coming.

I'm very bitter today. I know the brides must be dying, it snowed on my wedding day in April (freak thing) and I was hysterical. But I'm worried about my hubby getting home.

If it were you getting married today, just out of curiosity, how much snow needs to fall before you would cancell? And who makes that call? This is why I would never want to get married in the winter.

I would think that it would be very very hard to cancel and reschedule ALL the other vendors! I'm sure the parties will end alot earlier than expected and have a lot less guests too.

I hope he gets out early and safely!

Re: Hubby never made it home last night....

Thanks. He just called. So many people didnt show. There's a ceremony that supposed to start in a little while, and no one is there really.

Dont get me wrong, I feel bad for the brides, but its unfair to the guest to have to drive in this. The roads seem a little better now, but it's supposed to get worse later, so now all of these people have to get home.

And a lot of the staff isnt there yet b/c of the weather.

glad he is okay
someone once told me that unless they say on tv that you cant go on the road w/out chains, etc.... on your tires
the halls wont give you the money back or reschedule so that is why people do not cancel, I guess

Re: Hubby never made it home last night....

We have a friend that is a banquet manager at Meadow Club and I know she was saying yesterday that they were asking the bride for today (Sat) if she wanted to reschedule because of the snow. They offered her any other date that they had open. She didn't want to though.

Re: Hubby never made it home last night....

I would say that it would probably be very difficult to reschedule a wedding for another day on short notice too. People may have already flew in a few day in advance, you have to make sure it would be ok with all your vendors and then you would have to get in touch with over a hundred people to let them know.
