He's sitting next to me watching me read the boards and wants to know when we won't be newlyweds anymore. I say two years (it's only been less than 6 months). What is the answer? Thanks!

Re: Hubby wants to know....
I don't know the 'official' answer, but I can tell you that my 'newlywedhood' officially ended 8 weeks after my wedding, on Spet. 11, 2001. Being home alone in a brand new house with nothing but a bed, a radio, and a card table in the kitchen takes the magic out of your life pretty quickly.
***DISCLAIMER*** This is not a plea for sympathy, as I feel that living through this tragedy together has made us a stronger couple, and FAR more appreciative of one another.

In terms of this board, we will always be newlyweds as a distinction from the brides to be.

I was thinking that being a 'newlywed' could be more about a state of mind!

Re: Hubby wants to know....
I don't feel like a newleywed anymore since I'm on to the next stage of being a mother. Things didn't change that much since we got married 'cause we were living together for 3 1/2 years before our wedding. But, on LIW I'll always be a newleywed!!

Re: Hubby wants to know....
I always thought it was 2 years because of the Newlywed Show (you had to be married less then 2 years to b on it)

Re: Hubby wants to know....
In society's eyes your NW status could end after one year but I think it is a matter of how the couple treat each other. It really is a state of mind. I have seen people who have been married for many, many years, still holding hands, laughing and carrying on in the way they say Newlyweds act. I want to remain a NW forever

Re: Hubby wants to know....
I don't know, but when we were married a couple of months, I said to Joe that it didn't feel like we were newlyweds, it felt like we were married forever!! And that we had to start acting like a newlywedded couple and he just looked at me like I had 12 heads (what else is new)!!! I don't know if that's good or bad though! I say you can be newlyweds for however long you want to be! Your whole married life should be like a honeymoon! My parents are married 40 years and still hold hands and call each other 'Honey' (I used to be soooo embarrassed by that when I was younger), not by their first names!!!
the newlywed game had couples married upto 2 years...but that could just be because they needed contestants...

Re: Hubby wants to know....
I thought it was the two years because of the Newlywed game too! I had him read all of your responses and told him that I want to be newlyweds when we are 70!
