I am having a terrible time choosing my album pics! Can anyone help?

If anyone feels like giving advice or is bored whatever, can you please (begging on hands and knees) help me choose pics for our albums? We have to pick about 40 (we have 50 total) and we have narrowed it down, but I can't eliminate any more!

So please let me know if there are any you love or hate- thank you!!!

PS. Sat is our appt!

I say to eliminate many of the detail pics..those pics are nice to show to guests when they visit as proofs but in the album that has limited pics..concentrate on the couple and not so much the details..put one in to set the tonme of the day such as wedding dress..(This is what I did) Our album has in 50 pics and it was so hard) Good luck..

It would be hard for me to tell you which ones not to choose but a few things I can say is that you should look at the proofs with a loop because when the proof is blown up, you'll notice things in the picture that you didn't notice when it was smaller in size.

Also, isn't your photographer helping you choose pics? Mine was really helpful (the assistant I mean) at picking pictures and telling a story with them ......

Here is what i suggest:

Seperate all your photos into sections. One section for getting ready, one section for the ceremony, one section for cocktail hour, one section for the reception, one section for posed photos if you want to include that, etc..

Then decide how much of the album you want to devote to each section. Generally something like 10% getting ready, 10% posed formals, 40% ceremony, 40% reception. (or wahtever mix you want).

And then pick based on that. If you have more favorites in one section, then go for it but try to keep it balanced to 'tell the story'.

Also, I would suggest keeping a few of the detail shots in ...they work nicely as transitions and to add variety.

How about a shot of the wedding dress, a closup of the rings and a close up of the table set as detail shots to help you trasition and then the rest can be pics of your day in the moments that Stef sugested. But still..the dress twirling must be in

I agree with Sonic Stef. Look at which pictures tell the story best. Do keep a few of the details photographs--those show the mood.

How much would it cost for you to upgrade? Our photo album is only 30 and I'm already thinking about upgrading to 40.

Do you have 40 pages or 40 pictures? If its pages, maybe you can put several pics on one page. That adds some variety and looks great with sequential and detail shots.

FORTY pictures for your entire album???????

GOOD LUCK!!! Mine ended up being 130 pictures and I probably would have had more except if I went over 60 pages, I'd need a second book!

if it is only 40 pics then I would stick to main photographs instead of details,like someone said they are nice to have and you will always have them but the book is suppose to be about you and your husband.

Beth, you are very welcome . Sometimes an outside opinion really helps. Iknow I had the same difficulties as you did. There were so many I loved and I really could have put 100 in instead of 50 easily. Some of the similiar ones are the hardest to choose. As for the individuals, we kept this pretty minimum. I think about 4 of me and 2 of my fiance'. We just thought together was more important and better told 'our story'.

This is how I am doing it. I have 100 pics in my album and I narrowed down 900 proofs to 160. I still have to eliminate 60 pics. I look at them and try to pull 5 pics and then go back to them later or another day to eliminate again. I must say....ALL your pics are GREAT!!! It is a hard choice.

Even with 40, I think you need some transition and detail pics to get the album to flow and look professionally put together.

One way to narrow the field is to eliminate all your posed photos. That way you only get the action shots. Its a personal decision but you may find that all your important people show up in the action anyway so the posed photos arent necessary.

Don't stress too much. No matter which photos you pick, it will come out beautifully b/c your photos are wonderful!

You all are the absolute best!!!! I printed out everyone's choices and then put all the pics out accordingly. Then I put the pictures that got chosen more than once into another pile as my Must Have pics and have the others separated in order of how much I love them to choose again tonight.

Even though I made this post, it helped me more than I ever could have imagined!!!!
