I AM LIVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought DH Guitar Hero for Christmas. I was really good at it right from the start but he had a slow start. So, in January we bring it to his brother's house to play with his three nieces. Against my wishes, he decides to leave it there for them to play with. In May, I bring up that I would like it back because I haven't played in five months. THEN, I am told that Oops! the guitar is broken. I get a whole story about how they did all this research and it is common for the guitar on the Wii to break. I bet it wouldn't have broken if I had it though right? Well, I am told I will get a new guitar hero but instead of just BUYING one right away they concoct a whole plan to buy a new one, switch the guitars and return the broken one. By the way, that will NEVER work. I know they are tight on cash so I don't say anything.

I walk into MIL's house yesterday and discover that BIL has ROCK BAND. Which costs what? three times as much as Guitar Hero? So, I walk in - grab the box and start dragging it to the door. I swear I would have left with it if his whole family wasn't looking at me like I was nuts.

Then SIL starts telling me something about the Wii so I thought I was going to hear the same excuses over again but NO! she was advising me not to buy any more games for the Wii because they break. NO the games don't just break. Many of my friends have the games and they are not broken. Only MY GAME is broken.

Okay, thanks for listening - I had to vent. I know they are just 'things' but I lost sleep about it last night. NO SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY!

My nephew dunked my Wii sensor bar in water. My sister ordered it THAT night and we had a replacement within a week. She didn't even wait to see if it worked once it was dried out - she did the right thing and that was that.

We have Rock Band and Guitar Hero for PS3 and no, they don't just break. RB is notorious for the drum sets breaking (ours eventually did) but that's after hours and hours of use and using it like a real drumkit (like FH did). The guitars are more sturdier. Yes, they can break and yes there are tons of blogs and articles on the subject but the underlying issue is ABUSE. If you don't use them correctly they will eventually break - just like anything else.

How is it broken exactly?

another 08 crashing... we have both rock band and guitar hero and they dont just break! that's a load of poo. sorry you have to deal with this, it's pretty ridiculous

you can tweak the settings and fix this. read the manual, you have to calibrate it to the system and it's a common thing to fix, depending on your tv and system. unless they did something to it, it's probably easily fixable.

Tilde that STINKS but I have to be fair and say yes the Rockband guitar breaks (ours was broken out of the box and when we sent it back and got a new one we played it ONCE and then not again because we didt have time. We tried to play recently and its not working well again when you tilt it up. Warranty is up so they're busting our balls but that one defiently breaks on its own.) but the Guitar Hero one is still working just fine. Knock on wood.

Try calibrating it and if it still doesn't work try calling the manufacturer.

dh has guitar hero for ps3 and hasn't had any problems. i'm wondering if the guitar for the wii breaks easily

Uh I hate to tell your SIL and BIL but no they don't break. We had the Wii since it's inception almost 2 years ago and everything is still intact. Not one issue. My DH has Rock Band and Guitar Hero and both are in working order and he plays them every weekend. The only way they will break if it you are really rough and careless with them like in this case sounds like your nieces were. I am so sorry they did this and I think he should give you his Rock Band for what you went through. I hope you get your Guitar and then some back because that is awful.

ETA: We have Guitar Hero for Wii and Rock Band for PS3 but so far no issues with the Wii one.

I have to disagree with everyone that keeps saying that the only way the Guitars break for RB is through rough handling because we are adults so A, we're not rough. B, neither of us is home to play them. we literally opened the box the first time and it was broken-wouldnt tip up and the strum bar jammed.

We sent it in, got a new one, played once with my SIL and had a good time. We didn't touch them again for a month and when we did it was doing the same thing.

Now they're giving us a hard time with the warranty and we're raising holy hell because its BS-a 2 month warranty and thats exactly when the thing stopped workign after one use. FISHY to me.

The GH guitar though is just fine.

If kids were using it they might have screwed it up because kids are rough but the RB quality is definetly on the shoddy side as far as I am concerned.

My 3 cousins all have this stupid game and they are kids-theirs hasnt broken yet and they have had it since Christmas, trust these kids throw temper tantrums and throw the thing. I also know a few people who also have it and they havent had a problem, one person did but he stepped on it and it cracked-totally different.

I am guitar hero lover and my guitar works just fine. I think you should just buy a new one and send them the reciept to reimburse you.

Tilde - try and do the calibration thing...it may not be broken!

I just started playing again on saturday...

I beat the devil on easy the first week we got it and hadn't touched it since.

you can tweak the settings and fix this. read the manual, you have to calibrate it to the system and it's a common thing to fix, depending on your tv and system. unless they did something to it, it's probably easily fixable.
