I've already posted that we were in the process of closing on a co-op in Queens. Well, the f*&^%$ seller is psycho and calls me every other day to find out what is going on with the mortgage. Long story short, we mailed the application in beginning of Feb, and they just did the appraisal last week. They're tellign me they're back logged b/c of low interest rates. So, they dont'have a committment letter for us yet, and this guy called me again harrassing me and I can't take it anymore!! I understand he's getting inpatient, so are we. But, he tells me everytime he calls that I hired a bad lawyer and that the mortgage co. is lying to us b/c he bought a place after us, and his committment was done already.
I'm due on June 15th, our 1BR apt. right now is a total mess, crowded, we haven't been cleaning or organizing b/c we're starting to pack, so we have empty boxes, some with books, and now I don't know where I'm going to be living 2 months from now! And, our landlord is in contract with someone and he said we can stay here for April, but not longer.
I've been stressing out about this for the last 2 weeks, and now I'm just giving up. If the seller wants to back out of the contract now, let him, it's been outside of the 45 days that we were supposed to have the committment by, so legally he can. He just has to wait 2 more weeks, and we will have the letter by then and an interivew with the board. It's not in his best interest to back out now, since he'll have to find another buyer and go through the whole process again, but he sounds like he wants to back out.
I'm just so fed up with the whole thing. If I wasn't having a baby I would feel different, but we need another bedroom there's no room here for any baby stuff. And I just need to feel settled, not to mention that I want to be unpacked in our new place before I'm 9 months pregnant and going into labor.
take nice deep breaths after you talk to him...no need to get you and the baby worked up...
do you know for sure that you will be approved? will that settle the seller?
I hope you get it soon...and I hope that he doesn't back out...

Re: I am SO MAD
I know, I have to breathe, but usually I'm either really angry or really upset after I talk to him.
We should have it the first week in April, I told him that today and said nicely 'I really hope you can wait 2 more weeks', but I guess that's not good enough for him.
it may sound silly Nina...but I forget to breath...deeply at least...
whenever I feel stressed...I make sure I fill my entire lungs up...it so works...and you think to yourself...why don't I breath like this all the time :D
Well based on that comment...even though it was snotty...it sounds like he is going to wait it out...you're right that the process of finding someone else is more agita...I'm sure he's thought of it!!

Re: I am SO MAD
First Nina- call your lawyer. Tell him about these phone calls. Then call the Real Estate agent and tell her/him about the calls. The seller should NOT be calling you directly like this. Then get Caller ID or screen all calls thru your answering machine. Do not take one more call. My mom is a National Mgr. at American Home Mortgage and I tell you that they have tons and tons of applications now, mostly refiances because of the interest rate. people know after the War the rate will go up again. You should call and ask to speak to a manager. Tell the manager how long you have been waiting for your committment letter and tell him 'We could lose the co-op due to these delays'. That might help a lot.
Stay calm. This person is NOT worth you or your baby's health.

Re: I am SO MAD
Please try to take it easy. Contact the mortgage company and let them know your situation. Hopefully, someone would be able to get this moving for you. I am wishing you all the best.

Re: I am SO MAD
Thanks everyone, for the first time in the past couple of weeks (since h e has been calliing me for the past 2 weeks), I have finally been able to let this go and accept the fact that whatever happens happens and I'll deal with it. It's definitely not worth it.
We didn't go through a RE agent, it was for sale by owner. My attorney is working on this, he's aware that this guy has been calling me. The mortgage co. has received numerous calls from me too, and it's always been right after the seller calls me. This is way overdue, but next time he calls I'm just going to say I'm busy, I'll have to call you back. And then call my attorney right away. If he can't be patient, and realize that I've done everything that's in my control, then it's his loss. Of course we'll lose money too, but this just means it wasn't meant to be for us to live there for some reason. I'll update you on Monday.

Re: I am SO MAD
Oh Nina I really feel for you. Buying a home/co-op is very stressful as it is...on top of being pregant I imagine!!
I don't know if this helps but I have a very good friend who is a mortgage broker. She got my commitment letter in less than a week when we were looking but ended up not getting anything. Anyway if it helps FM I will give you her info.
Hang in there! Irene

Re: I am SO MAD
Acutally, I don't have an organized way of praying, so I was trying to figure out how to keep sane with all this anxiety I've been having.
Irene, I think the letters usually only take a couple of weeks, but they say they are back logged b/c the rates are low. It think it's too late to go to another lender, since we already paid for the credit check and appraisal. They're supposed to have it by the beginning of April, but thanks anyway.
We'll see what happens on Monday. I'm going for a pregnancy massage today, so that will relax me! I've actually been doing alright this weekend, hangin in there.

The massage was fantastic! It was only supposed to be 50 minutes, but the massuese took her time and I got an hour. I feel great!! For your bday definitely do a facial, massage, manicure and pedicure. Treat yourself extra special that day! What salon are you planning on going?

Re: I am SO MAD
Awwww...Nina. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately it just sounds as if the owner is panicked, but conveying it in a different way, and you are the one suffering because of it. Please let us know how it goes today. Let your attorney handle this crap!!!!! Hope your day is filled with sunshine!!!!!
