I am very sad...

about the turnout I am getting for Jason's 30th.

My husband is the most helpful and supportive friend anyone can ask for. He puts EVERYONE above himself.

Here I am throwing him a 30th Birthday party and no one is coming. I am super depressed about it. Especially because he didn't want a birthday party because he knew this would happen. He hates his birthday because it has always been a let down for him. Last year I had to bug his family until we finally did the cake I brought to the shore on the boat while it melted. But my BIL Justin's birthday we had a big family party and my other BIL Jonathan's birthday we all went out to dinner. So I can see why Jason feels this way. His cousins and aunt are not coming and to be honest I will be shocked if his middle brother comes. And I know his parents will show up late and leave early because LI is SO SO FAR FROM NJ!!! But only when they drive it, not when we haul our butts there to run his father's business.

But I expect it from his family, but I am really disappointed in his friends, especially our college friends.

We hauled our butts to Boston Memorial Day weekend last year for one friends, he isn't coming. We drove post snow storm to North Grafton, MA for our friends 30th in Feb, he isn't coming.

The guest list was about 60 and I have about 20 yeses, some of which I know will be last minute nos. Most of the ones coming are my friends, who are his friends now, but still.

I wish I hadn't thrown it because now its going to be a let down and it s__ks!!!

can u just cancel it and book a mini vacay and whisk him away to a B&B or a luxe trip instead?

Aww I'm sorry Michelle..i say just make the best of it with the people who are coming...Im sure Jason will just be so happy you went to all of the trouble for him

is there a local bar u can have it? u get bigger turn outs when its held somewhere every1 is familiar with.

I'm so sorry michelle!!!! People stink. And whoever is not there will regret it!!! I say go on with the party...u did a lot of hard work and jason should see that!!! All he needs to have a good time is his wife!!!

I am sorry to hear this Michelle, but I agree with the other girls, why not just make the best of who is coming and have fun with the people who love him most!

I think he is more excited and hopeful about the turnout of our BBQ we want to have at the end of the summer with you wonderful people then he is about his birthday.

But your right, we will make the best out of who is coming.

I'm sorry you went to all that effort but I agree with everyone else and say just have fun with folks who come. . I find summer parties are really hard to get folks to come too in general and well people just s*ck sometimes. .


so just enjoy the folks who are there and don't tell him 40 people said no. . and I DEF know how you feel bc my DH is the same way w always being dissapointed by friends and not wanting bday parties bc he expects to be dissapointed. . it makes me sad too. .

I'm really sorry. I know you've been putting a lot of effort in to this. From personal experience of throwing parties in the summer, it's really hard. No matter what the reason for the celebration because it's a time of year when a lot of people are throwing parties, going on vacation, or have family visiting things get really crazy. That being said, I still get disappointed when people don't show up for stuff but it doesn't mean they don't care. It just means there's a lot going on.

Hope you do start getting some 'yes's'!

Like everyone else already said, try not to let it get you down. It's EXTREMELY hard to plan a summer party. DH went through the same thing when planning my 40th. Out of my 3 best friends only 1 came! I still had a great time. DH stressed for no reason.

As someone who is also always disappointed in her birthday, anything you do for Jason will be appreciated and he will be happy. Trust me.
