I can't believe that someone actually said this at my wedding

I can't believe that someone actually said this at my wedding

I just found out just the other day that my friend's D(umb)H asked everyone at the table to place their bets as to how long until DH and I ended up divorced (she told me this herself). None of my friends found it amusing - in fact, it made them very uncomfortable since some were newlyweds themselves - and my friend told her insanely D(umb)H to shut up. He wasn't joking.

I know that at the time they were considering separation and now they are getting a divorce but STILL what a thing to say two hours after the ceremony.

Did anyone have some genius say something to that effect on their wedding day?

Not at my wedding (that I know of) but at my good friends wedding-another friend-HER bridesmaid-told me that she (the bride) was anorexic and looked terrible! WHICH WAS SUCH CRAP! She lost some weight for the wedding and looked AMAZING!

Well yesterday we were w/ DH's friends from work (my wild tables at the wedding) & they were talking about one of the fiance's of a guy & what she said.....I almost spit my drink out........

She said, I'm not marrying for money, I'm not marrying for love, I'm marrying for the sex & SUPPOSEDLY she went down on her FH under the table. When the guy's wife who said this saw my face she kicked her hubby who stopped talking at that point, but OMG...........let it be known to that this was the same girl who was doing whipped cream shots off her chest!!!!!!!!!!!!

ETA: I just asked my DH what happened & he said she did say the sex thing, but 'pretended' to go down on her fiance on the dance floor

this girl sounds REAL classy!

The only thing I heard was DH's coworker telling DH 'now you can introduce her as your future ex-wife'.......yeah, real funny. jerk.

The best man [dh's bro] told some story [as his 'toast'] about my 5 year old supposedly asking him why i was wearing white and how he told her what it was for and so she asked if that was why daddy [dh] was wearing black. if that wasn't bad enough, he also went on some tangent about some story about dh when he was like 5....EVERYONE was looking at each other with that W T F?!?!?!?! look on their faces...even DH. It was the worst speech I've ever heard...truly inappropriate...to this day, as I see friends and other guests from the wedding, they ask me why he told those stories. So embarrassing.

He also told the story of when DH called him about having met me for the first time...he got the year wrong...he said it was his junior year of college when he actually graduated a few weeks later. IDIOT.

With some people, it's 'add alcohol = instant a**hole' and others just lack any kind of class, alcohol or not.

I notice though, the ones who are always making comments about the groom getting cold feet, or betting on divorce are the ones who are divorced themselves. Doesn't make for a very convincing opinion, does it? Just cus they're bitter about their own inability to make a marriage work has no bearing on yours.

I just pity people like that.

My good friend (who is really the reason DH and I met -they went to college together) said to the BM that he never thought we would last when we started dating (since then he has changed his opinion) but I just found out about it in May!

Re: I can't believe that someone actually said this at my wedding

That's ridiculous, I can't believe that anyone would be so crass.

My MIL made a comment that I felt was in poor taste. There are specific rules that govern who can sign the Ketubah, so we had specifically chosen who would be signing our Ketubah and who would be signing our Marriage license based on those rules (I had two honor attendants, and our Best Man was inelligible to sign the Ketubah). So our Rabbi asks for the people signing the State Marriage license and DH calls up the guy who's supposed to sign the Ketubah.

Now, there's no reason that guy *couldn't* sign the license too, but then that would be taking away the 'honor' from our BM (who is also DH's brother). So I corrected DH and called for BIL, and Adam got confused and argued with me on it for a moment, but I reminded him why we had set things up the way we had and it was over.

So on the video, MIL says VERY AUDIBLY 'We've got a bossy bride over here.'

Beeeyotch.

Re: I can't believe that someone actually said this at my wedding

Yeah. Mine was terrible and by someone who I thought was a friend to another person I thought was a friend. One told a childhood friend that I was having an affair with a drug dealer (oh, did I mention there was a racist factor in there, he was blaaack), that I did drugs behind my fiance's back and that I had told him I was a virgin. All of these things are totally absurd and I am terrified I ever considered the sociopath a friend. Those are really serious things to say at a wedding and could have damaged far more than 'just' my feelings.

I've said good ridance to these people but not without a *lot* of pain and anguish as to why people would want to be so cruel, to not allow me to be happy. It's amazing how insecure people can be and how threatened someone getting married can make them. After months of hurting, I've had to realize that some people are so unhappy with their own lives that they can't bear to see others happy.

Brides to be: beware of those who might be envious, but pain and all, it's probably the best lesson I've ever learned: who loved me and wanted to see me happy (and those who didn't).
