I can't find my Social Security card.

I can't find my Social Security card.

Does it matter if I go without my old one to change my name? I know the number by heart. I lost it in my house cleaning.

You just need your number. I haven't had a card in years. Just have proper ID with you. I think the forms are even online to fill out and save time in the office.

no - the woman there asked me if I had it, but I left it at home - only the marriage license is needed.

I just got back from ss. As the others said, you only need id (license) and your marriage certificate.

I went in NYC and it took about 30-35 minutes (41/2nd).

Thanks, maybe I can go in the morning and go to work late one morning.You don't have to go to DMV the same day,do you? Maybe I can do one thing one day and the rest another day.

Nope..don't have to do them the same day. I just did soc. sec. Saving DMV for later in the week or even next week!

don't remember ... sorry. I walked in and told the lady what I was there for and she handed me the correct form.

I downloaded the form from their website - I think it;s under the category of 'Change of Information'. If you search under change of name you should find it.
