I feel bad, but I am a little upset

I shouldn't be upset by this but my best friend growing up is getting married in May in RI. Of course a lot of my High School friends will be there and many of my neighbors. A lot of people who were at our wedding.

She picked my bridesmaid dress, my exact dress in a different color (navy) but also with an ivory ribbon. She didn't mean to copy me, she was just looking at the pics of my wedding on facebook and realized she did it.
But honestly, my wedding was in Aug, she picked her dresses in Sept. You don't realize that they look familiar.

I know I shouldn't be upset and it was nice she messaged me and apologized, so of course I told her it was ok, but I can't help but being disappointed that they are going to appear again so soon in a wedding with so many overlapping people. At least I did them first.

My wedding dress was one of her final three so I guess it could have been worse.

I'd be pissed (but thats just how i am).

I'd probably complain to my friends about it and say she's a biter etc but then i'd be over it.

And like Samantha said, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I think there's going to be such a large gap in time that most people won't remember it. People don't always pay attention to stuff like that, and if they do chances are they'll think it's lame that she copied you and not think any less of you.

Its the BM dress not your wedding dress. And truthfully I think most BM dresses look alike. I dont even think people will notice. There is a big gap in time and its not the same color as yours.

I don't think anyone will notice it's the same BM dress in a different color; it's a far enough gap of time.

oh and my BIL got married a month and a half after us, and her BM dresses were almost the same exact dress but a different color! like i said again its a good think you went first! hehe

Its a pretty distinct dress... everyone commented on how different they were. It just annoys me because my wedding was in Aug and she went dress shopping in Sept... you don't remember what the dresses look like at a wedding you went to a month earlier?

And with an ivory ribbon, its going to look so similar.

Sorry its really bugging me... I have a feeling she is copying a lot of other aspects of my wedding too, based on her comments.

Its the next wedding for all my HS friends too.

well I can see how you're upset. . but honestly the only thing people would think if they notice is that she copied you. . doing something second is never as good as first. . . and also think in five year. . probably one. . you might be the only person who remembers and your photos will still be yours and you DEF won't hang hers on your wall!!!

Your right... I guess it bothers me more because she is marrying Bret, who was like my brother growing up, lived across the street from me. But at least I did it first.

Personally I wouldn't be upset. People have been biting my style since the 2nd grade. It was something I learned to deal with literally in elementary school. Your wedding was first, like a year before, and you did it first! Everyone knows that. She's the one that looks like the copycat if anything. Also imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery, I do believe it. You should be happy that you picked such cool, different dresses and did them first, that people want to copy them. Sorry you're upset though
