I feel for the 09 Brides

I thought the economy was bad when we were planning...it's so much worse now. The week the market was tanking I was on my honeymoon!

i know, i posted about this on the JT thread, i feel so bad for some of them well some are more effected than others.

One bride who got married this past weekend had less than 50% rsvp yes

I know it's terrible. Tough times all around. I know that the day will be great no matter who's there but you can't help but think about those people you really want to be there.

i thought that when i saw all the posts about fortunoff & how so many girls are registered there!!!

so sad!

I didnt even think of this! Its true...many people are losing their jobs so that means less family flying in to see the wedding, less gifts and harder times.

I have alot of weddings/showers to go to in a short amount of time, 3 cousins and my SIL all got engaged in 3 months time! Plus im going to be having a baby shower myself plus another one of my cousins in expecting....its alot for this family!

My wedding has passed and I JUST made my minimum but, we invited 280 people and 190 RSVP'd yes. We had more than a 20% no rate and we had about 30 people who didn't respond at all. The worst part was that these were people in my immediate family. Shady.
Sometimes I feel that we picked a wrong time to get married, other times I'm glad that we did bc if we had to wait any longer we prolly would have wound up cancelling the wedding all together due to the economy.

me too...

its crazy that stamps are going up again - i feel like they just went up around the time we were sending out our invites! and that was like 6 months ago!

none of our declines were b/c of the economy (that i know of) but if we were sending out invites now who knows - we may have had some people not come b/c of the way things are getting.....

its crazy, we actually know someone who lost a job recently - before we didn't actually know anyone who had been affected - but now that we know of someone who is out of work it feels more real....

even to buy a house is scary - i'm getting so nervous about it....or to have a baby......and that is the point that most of us are at - weddings, buying a home, having a baby.....

I hear you about buying a house...its so scary! We are on the fence about it now. For us to hand over our life savings....to put down 20% so we can even get the mortgage is scary. We wont have too much left over after that......We dont like paying rent because I always thought it was a waste..I think of it this way though.....I would be throwing away an average of 800 a month on Property taxes anyway...so as long as we are saving our money....It doesnt bother me to pay a reasonable price to rent anymore inthis economy. With the rate of people sadly losing their jobs...Im too scared to buy a house right now. What if houses go down another 20% ???That means I lost my deposit! Plus if we rent we have more freedom, God forbid my dh loses his job. We can put his resume around the world...since we arent stuck in one location, we can easily break a lease. Its so mind blowing....and disapointing.

I hear ya... it's very sad... We actually know a couple of people now who lost their jobs, and I get so nerve-wracked when I hear he is stressed at work, because everytime I jump straight to the same conclusion, that he's been laid off.... I'm getting paranoid now lol
