i HATE being home alone

I find it incredibly scary. lol. Which is one of the reasons that I never lived by myself (besides the fact that affording an apartment alone in NY was impossible for me anyway)

Anyhoo - so I got home today from grocery shopping and found the front door unlocked I just assumed that DH had locked it when he left that morning (and i had gone thru the garage when I left, so I never checked). Anyway, I got inside and heard strange sounds coming from the bedroom (kinda like shuffling around). Being the 'brave' girl that I am, I checked all over the house, in closets and everything and obviously nobody or THING appears to be in there. So I relaxed a little until just now i suddenly heard like a light bang coming from in the bedroom and this time i refuse to go in there. What the heck!! I texted Dh and he said that he'll be home from work soon - but soooo scary! I'm thinkig of just waiting outside with the puppy. It's way too freaky in here. I'm sure I'm just paranoid since the door was unlocked even tho this is a very safe neighborhood. But what if there's like a mouse or a snake in there? lol. SCARY!!! It's moments like this that make me wish I had a 200 pound monster dog instead of the wee little 20 lb 'Toto' that i love oh so much

that is so funny. Im the same way!!. DH works the late shift so he is gone over night. I lock up everything. If I wake up in the middle of the night and have to pee sometimes I wont even go b/c Im to afraid to leave the bedroom. (I know pathetic)

nope, not pathetic at all. I think most of us are like that (tho some won't admit it) My dh used to work pretty late hours too when he'd only get home around 1am but I'd have to wait up for him. I cannot fall sleep in an empty house. I'm much too frightened. So I used to just sit on the couch and watch tv or read a book always looking over my shoulder JUST IN CASE! lol.

k, DH just got home and checked the house for me. lol. He's in the basement now making sure everything's 'safe' It's good living with a big strong man. lol.

lol oh noooo haha I hate that. That is one reason why I wanted a dog...even though he is only a 26 lb LOVEABLE puppy, I still feel better having something there than nothing lol

I have such a horrible fear of the dark, so if there is anything making noise really late at night or in a dark room I wont go in there lol This morning while I was eating breakfast, the door to the second bedroom opened...I know in my mind that it was just b/c I didn't close it hard enough and the doors are so heavy they open on their own..but it still scared me for a minute to think that it could be something else lol

I hope it wasn't Eddie in my house!!!!

If I watch a scary movie I freak out My couch is in front of the window so Im constantly looking behing to make sure noone is there

Cassandra, I am exactly the same. I have gotten better -- I used to check the shower and closets EVERY time I came home I have been hearing noises lately - DH has been working a second job and is never home at night - and the other day I was on the phone with my mom and I heard this loud bang from the kitchen. I was in the next room and I FREAKED. It sounded like a window falling shut, but I didn't have any open ... a few days later, I saw that somehting in the attic had slipped and then there was a bottle of something in the fridge that had gotten knocked over -- so it could have been either thing -- but it freaks me out.

I always reason with myself like this: if I've been home alone for hours and suddenly hear a noise, I say to myself, well, if someone was here waiting to kill / rape / assault me, they wouldn't have waited 3 hours to do it - they would have come out soon after I got home. SICK, right???

I cannot watch any crime show if DH is not home. CSI is out of the question if he is not with me. Scary movies are pretty much out of the question even if he IS with me

I hate taking showers when I'm home alone, especially at night! Is just creeps me out!

I am soooo bad that Dh thinks im nuts. He also works nights and I lock every door. Even if he goes out for a bit and his home early and im already in bed everything is locked and he says it takes him forever to get in.

Went from living withmy family and my grandparents my entire life in a house that was never quiet.... to living in a house where you can hear the toilet making sounds and the wind blowing >>>>> NOT COOOL!

I used to have one of those couches in front of a big window and it would scare the crap outta me when I'd watch something creepy. lol. In my new house it's against a wall though, so i feel a little better. haha. Like somebody's even gonna come up to your WINDOW and peek in tho

that is toooooo funny cause I think that way also!!! Like why would this assailant WAIT just to spring out at me? Makes no logical sense. But even just thinking that way makes me feel insane. DH always tells me that I'm safe and nothing illegal ever happens in this neighborhood, but still. Being alone scares me.

And somebody mentioned SHOWERS - that's something that I can not do when alone at night either. When DH used to work 4pm-1am, we'd always hang out before he'd have to leave so I wouldn't be able to take a shower until later, but I ALWAYS made sure to do it while still light outside. haha. So weird!
