I Hate Heart-Burn!!!!

Lately I have been Getting such Bad Heart-Burn.
It has even been waking me up at night.

I just took a Tums, which is Nasty, but it is the Only thing that works right away.

I haven't been eating anything too crazy, I guess my stomach has just been on Edge alot lately.

I've been having the WORST heart burn (or was it acid refulx, i really don't know the difference). It kept me up until 8am the other day!!

Mine was b/c of all the meds I've been on lately.

My doc suggested Prilosec OTC, the 14 day (shortest) dosage. It took an hour or two to work, but the acid-ey stuff is totally gone!

Send your DH to the store to get some for you ... is there a 24 hour drug store near you, like a CVS?

I have such bad acid reflux (up with it now actually). Try chewing a piece or 2 of minty gum. The mint will neutralize the acid.

I keep a big thing of Orbit White bubblemint flavor on my desk, but anything minty will help. I used to take Prevacid, but now, gum is the only thing that neutralizes the acid. I chew on a piece, have some ginger ale and sit up for a half hour before laying back down.

I hate taking Meds.
I find that Tums works too, but I hate that Chalkiness.
I will have to keep some Ginger Ale in the APt.
Thanks for the Advice.
Hope you are Feeling Better,

Prilosec works really well and Zantac. I use that to neutralize the acid quick-both my momma and I suffer from acid reflux among other things so we look like a pharmacy counter lol. I find rolaids work a little bit better thhan TUms if thtas what you need, but the Zantac works even faster than both.

Jenn I am going to try the gum thing but I wonder if a mint works just as well? I have TMJ so really not supposed to hew um with my jaw.

Anything with mint should work. If you go to Olive Garden, they give out those Andes mints after dinner. They do it because it helps settle the stomach. So even if you have something like those, it should do the trick.

EXCELLENT! I am going to try that...we can all use a lil' chocolate with our mint sometimes.
