.. after the wedding you should start having kids right away. Hence, I always get a questions, so when are you going to have kids??
I think my ILs assumed that we'll have kids right away, so they started asking us about kids about a month before the wedding. So now instead of how's the planning comming along everyone keeps on asking, so when are you going to have kids??
It's not that I don't want kids, it's that we decided to wait a bit.
Am I alone in this?

Everyone in our families know we have so many other things planned before kids, so its a non-issue at this point. My parents already have a grandson, so they are in no rush for more. He is our world. My MIL is a different story, she is dying for one but luckily my husband is the youngest of 3 and one is already married and the other is getting married in April, so they can fulfill her wish.

Yep, I get that too. The most recent thing is that my mother calls me every time that she finds out that one of her friends is going to be a grandmother. 'So and so's daughter just got pregnant. I'm going to be the only one who's not a grandmother...'

Tell them the same thing you did for the wedding, 'kids are expensive, if you want to pay for their well being then we'll gladly get started right away'.
We want to have a baby, but it's just not the right time for us. Money is tight and adding a baby to the mix will not help the situation, better to wait it out then to get PG and have no plan.
It's really such an inconsiderate and rude question too. For all they know you have been TTC and have been having complications, it's a sensitive topic.

It's a sensitive topic, but everytime I see a kid and say that he is cute, my FIL says that it's about time we had ours.
And for some reason the person to blame for not having kids is me.

it's crazy...i know. plus it's also a russian thing - no one waited to have kids after marriage. they had them right away. (my mom waited 4 years before having my sister...but that def wasn't the norm there) Good Luck!

My MIL wanted to know when we were having them within hours of us getting engaged!!! My mom doesn't ask she said when it happens it happens and everyone keeps asking when too

Our family is split. My family doesn't talk about it because they think that we should wait a while. DH's family would like us to have started yesterday... It's just not soon enough for them.
