I just got an invite...

To a surprise 30th bday party for someone I have known for a very long time. This person got married a few years ago and I travelled to her shower and wedding. My sister had to harass her about whether she was attending my shower and she didn't come to my wedding. I was hurt more than anything. I really have no plans on attending this firstly, but I actually have legitimate excuses lol so I won't look like a complete @sshole that I'm trying to get back at her. But still, I think it's kind of nervy to be invited when her and her husband are one of the people that still haven't said congratulations to us!

I am sort of in the same situation. The girl who didn't bother to show up to my wedding after making a big stink about me not inviting her to begin with, told me she was going to come with a guest, and didn't show up or call or email or anything to say sorry, or to even congratulate us. Then she goes to tell me that she hopes we can put aside our differences and that she hopes to see me at her childs baptism.

I told her 'Whatever' and left it at that, I will not be going and I even blocked her from my emails lol

IMO it's rude and I have no problem telling them I wont go. I don't think it's wrong if you don't go :)

It sounds like she probably would not even notice if you WERE trying to get back at her. Some people really cannot see the way they insult people, she sounds like one of these people

Yeah, I don't know. I was just bothered by it. I told DH and he said to write a response that says gift in the mail bc that's what she wrote on our response card.

I actually do have plans for that day, but I did respond no. I don't think she'll miss that I'm not there.

my former boss was a good friend of mine.. and we invited her whole family all 4 of them for our engagement party and for the wedding.. she showed up to engagement and she realized that one of our friends there was a former foe of hers; she left early saying that she stuff to do..

she never sent out the rsvp for the wedding and then emailed me 2 weeks before the wedding telling me that she mailed the card, but wanted to make sure that I know that all 4 of them will attending.. great, or so i though!

Come wedding day, she never showed up and for someone who used to call me every day, she never even bothered calling us to let us know that they will not be attending.. the relationship ended there, I have seen her a couple of times, and I behaved cordially but also gave her the cold shoulder..

my ramble aside.. i think it you have all the reasons to not go and hold your ground.. its insulting to people that you get invited and tell them you are coming and not even call to to cancel..

Well she never said she was coming to anything so it's different. I was just hurt that I did all this for her bc I thought she was my friend and she didn't attend anything of mine. I'm just thinking how can you think I'm your friend when you did this to me?

its very hurtful and i don't think she would have the brains to understand that you are not attending on purpose.. some people are self centered and people like that will get their wake up call soon enough.

I have the same issue. I invited a person to my wedding and shower. She (and FH) did not come to the shower or wedding. We were invited to her FH 35th bday and not their wedding. W T F! I dont understand people. It gets better I was invited to her Bachelorette party. I refuse to do anything that she is involved with. She was a friend of a friends but felt over the last 10 years that we have always hung out that she was a friend. I hate people sometimes. So dont feel bad!
