I just read a post about budget on the brides boar
They wanted to know if they will regret if they go crazy spending on the wedding - I tried to answer her but I found it difficult. How does everyone else feel? We went way over what we ever thought we would spend on our wedding. We (expecially me) got very caught up on the whole thing and didn't really want to go with things I really didn't like b/c of price - I asked Hus. last night if her regrets it (he says yes) it wasn't worth it but I can't say that. I can't think of anything I would of changed. Does anyone wish they wouldn't of been on a budget and spent more? or does anyone wish they would of cut back more? As I said on the brides side I'm really not sure. It was the kind of day I wanted so I guess it cost what it cost. But it really is the most expensive one day you'll ever have.

My wedding cost quite a lot more than we were originally looking to spend, but looking back at our wedding day, Patrick and I decided that it was worth EVERY penny. I know that it's only one day, but in my eyes it was the most fantastic day of our lives, and we treated it as such. We will never have the opportunity to throw such a tremendous party again, so we were very glad we went all out. We had many things that I'm sure would not have been missed had we not included them, but I'm so glad that we did, because they added to our and our guests enjoyment. Our budget was whatever we could afford to pay for in cash, and we stuck to that. Not having any credit card bills or loans makes it very easy to look back and smile!

We had a wonderful day and neither of us have any regrets either on how it went or what we spent. I guess you can get caught up and overspend but I think we all go into it knowing it will be one expensive day. We did have those moments during the planning where we did the math and totally shocked ourselves and then discussed what else that money could buy but it was our choice to have that type of wedding. You can get married and it can cost you hardly anything but if you choose a big NY style wedding, it`s going to cost, even if you are budget conscious. I saw your posting earlier and I thought about it, but I had no regrets to share. We had such an amazing wedding day. You just got married and if I recall, you posted that your day was wonderful too. You may be suffering from some post-wedding shock. Try not to negatively focus on what has already passed - what you didn`t do and how much you spent - remember all the things you loved and what you enjoyed but try to stay in the present and enjoy newlywed life with your hubby. Best wishes.

I didn't say I regret my day... I am just
trying to put some posts on this site to get me off the brides and give me something to read (when I need a break from work) I did have a great day - I only asked about the regrets (and regret was a strong word) just little things that you'd wish you'd done.

I posted a response on the brides board.
Are there things we should not have spent the money on? maybe the itty bitty little things like expensive stockings! :-)
So, no, no regrets, and of course we could have spend the money on something else, but we planned and got the wedding day we wanted. Plus dealing with large amounts of money, budgeting and spend wisely are things we`ll need to do in the future.
And I agree, coming back from the honeymoon debt free is the best feeling in the world. I'm sure if I were still paying for the wedding ten months later, I'd be regretting a lot of things!

The spending...
...and the spending! But we both talked about it and we really don't regret spending anything we spent (which was over what we wanted to). I don't think you can help looking back and thinking what you 'could have done' with all that money because it really is so much, but it was the best day of our lives and the biggest and best party we will ever throw!

The spending...
Interesting question. One I have to pose to hubby
tonight.
I dont regret the spending- I got what I wanted-
a wedding in the garden, great music, Fantastic
food and beautiful surroundings for pictures.
We worked hard on this to bring the costs down-
his mom made the rice throws, I put together the favors
and the centerpieces. Our invites cost us about $250
including thank yous & our own note cards,
bought the gown on sale about 16 months b4 our day,
didnt need a limo, negoitated a good deal for hotel
rooms and rehearsal dinner,etc
So, rob & I did our work together on this.
The only thing I wish we could have done is
negotiate rates on the hall- but we moved our
day from Sat to Sun & saved a bit there too.
