I know I'm not supposed to be here but...

I need help from the pros in the newlywed section. I'm getting married on Friday and I need help with the tips. The wedding is at Carlyle on the Green. We plan on tipping them based on service, and we have an idea what we will give. My question is for:
1) Limos- the gratuity is included. If the service is excellent and we want to give more, what is a good range? We will have 5 limos, 1 bus, 1 van.
2) Flowers- we won't be at the church when they deliver them. Do they get a tip?
3) Band- what is proper for an 8 piece band?
4) Photographer- How do we know if they go above and beyond without seeing the pictures? Do you tip when you pick up your proofs?
5) Make-up/hair- I'm using Pauline for myself and 7 BM. She gets all the money( over $700) because she's not working out of a salon, do I give her more?
6) Church- we will probably give the priest a gift, we are paying for the organist and singer, do you tip them too?
Am I forgetting anyone? Thanks in advance for your help! I'm looking forward to joining you here on the other side:)

You could tip the photographer when you pick up the proofs, however you will be able to tell if you liked this photog. at the wedding...u would tip anywhere from 50. to 100. if you liked him.

I wouldnt tip the florist...maybe the delivery guy 5 or 10.00 but thats it.

I would give the hair girl a little something maybe 50.00 if you really liked how your hair and makeup came out.

I dont think you need to tip the musicians at the church.

I hope this helped you!!And good luck!!! you will have a beautiful day!!! we look foward to having you on this side!!!

Heather,

I posted about what I tipped after our wedding, but I pasted a copy of it below! On the whole, I wouldn't tip Pauline - that's all her money, believe me she is making a profit off you, big time. I would tip the florist delivery - he has to deliver the flowers to your house for your bouquet, that's when you tip - remember he (they) are the ones that will decorate your centerpieces! For the band, I tipped all cash and I didn't feed them - we thought our tip was generous, but we also inquired with Frank Wayne - maybe you can just inquire with the company you hired from. The musicians at church, I didn't tip, because they pocketed all the money, again they profit from you. The photographer is a chance - just tip what you feel is normal and then if you LOVE the pictures, you can always give more after. But at that point, it's over and done with.

Here is a copy of my post:

I had trouble with this one, so I'm going to list what we tipped on our day. My husband and I were writing envelopes out the day before, we were both so disgusted by how much we shelled out in tips.

Maitre'd - $400 (200 people)
Bridal Asst - $75
Band - 9 members (we decided to give them cash instead of food, so we gave them $40 each - $400 total)
Flower Delivery - $150 (2 people - $75 each - they put your centerpieces together, so be careful on this one).
Photographer - $130 plus dinner (to much for my taste, but he did a great job, plus it's what they recommended)
Photographer Asst - $70 plus dinner
Video Asst - $100 plus dinner (2 people, $50 each - but I wish I gave a little more - they did a great job, atleast I think)
Videographer - no tip, only because it's friends of family and the bill was large enough already! But dinner, of course.
Priest - no tip, because we paid him straight (that money is all his), plus we treated him to breakfast 3 times!!!!!
Ceremony music - no tip - because that money is all theres too - no middle man.
Steel drums - this was hard, but we didn't give a tip because we felt that they were getting a lot for the one hour.
Hair - gee, I don't know - but everyone was giving her money - so she probably walked away with $50 in tips!!! I think $20 alone for my hair - which is alot.
Makeup - my bridesmaid took my money and tipped this one, but she gave less than I wanted - but it worked out because she came to the wedding - so we paid for her dinner! I probably would have given her $15 - $20 otherwise!

I think that's it! I hope this helps and good luck! I'll be thinking about you on the 2nd and hope you have a great day! We'll touch base after the wedding!

Re: I know I'm not supposed to be here but...

Here's what we tipped the day of:

Limo: 20% was already included, but we gave each driver an extra $20 for being super on time and very helpful.

Flowers: All flowers came to my mom's house, so we tipped the driver $10.

Band: We had an 8-piece band. In addition to feeding them (half-price), we tipped each member $25 (for a total of $200).

Photographer: We had one guy and he was so awesome with our group. We gave him $50 when the night was over.

Make-up/Hair: I had mine done in a salon. Different people. The girl who did my hair is my regular stylist, so I gave her $20 (she opened up for me at 7 a.m.) and the make-up person got $10. It was $75 for my hair and $35 for make-up.

Church: We paid a donation to both the Church and their music department ($200 each). We tipped the 2 altar servers ($15 each), the singer ($20) and the organist ($20) and even gave our priest $100 tip.

We don't regret one penny of the tips. They all came through for us and were very deserving of it. Don't feel obligated to tip unless you feel they did wonders fro you.

Good Luck.

1) Limos- I gave $10 to my driver - he was only with us for 1 hour...but a nice guy...DH's family gave $100 to their limo guy, b/c they liked him and said he was very patient with them...and went overtime...and they are big tippers...I think they were nuts.

2) Flowers- we put $20 in an envelope...won't they bring the bouquets to where you are getting ready?

3) Band- didn't have one...but I gave dj $40 for each person...and a meal

4)photographer - you'll know if they are relaxed with you and help you with your day...I gave $100 for 2 - one is owner...so I think he gave all to his 2nd camerawoman

5) Make-up/hair- give $5-10 each hour they are there?

6) Church...didn't get married in one...so can't help you...

also don't forget maitre' d $2-4 for each guest
and bridal asst $1-3 each guest

I gave $400 and $200 respectively
