Do they KEEP the original copy of the marriage certificate, or do they just need to see/copy it?

I need to know ASAP, b/c a lad I work with, who was married 1 mo before me has not changed her SS card yet b/c she paid $10 per copy for additional originals of her marriage certificate, b/c SS office will only take originals!

What's the deal on this??

No, they just need to look at it.

Nope, they don't need to keep it for any reason. You just show it to them and they hand it right back to you.
