I love NYC (You can skip if not a fan of the Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris)
I love NYC and yes I am a total nerd-you all know my secret now lol. But I thought this was great.
Charlaine Harris is a writer that writes chick-lit/paranormal romance/mysteries. Her best series is The Southern Vampire Novels starring Sookie Stackhouse. Sounds goofy but if you're a fan of the writing style and genre you'd enjoy them.
Essentially the storyline revolves aound vampires in Louisiana and the central character is a normal barmaid who happens to be telepathic. Each book brings you deeper into the series. Its fun. anyway the idea is Vampires are real and among us and just like any minority group, are fighting for certain rights among other things in the storyline.
HBO Is creating a TV show based on the novels called TRU BLOOD premeiring in September and they are advertising so hard for it and in ways that are really clever I think.
Today at lunch I was approached by members of both THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE SUN and AMERICAN VAMPIRE LEAGUE. Flippin awesome lol. (You have to have read the series to know what i am talking about)
All dressed like normal volunteers and most people had no clue. I kept a really straight face and asked the Vampire League people how Eric and the Fangstatia gang were doing and they looked surprised then cracked up. (again all info fromt he books) Most people looked startled and kept walking when the Fellowship of the sun 'volunteers' were screaming about Death to vampires. On random guy even yelled 'YEA Down with those bloosuckers!' Hysterical. And then of course you had your typical oblivious NYorkers.
They are taking 'signatures' and actually handed out pamplets and buttons. Totally professional looking. Its a trip and a half.Just wanted to share in case anyone is looking forward to the show in September. Hope it plays somewhat close to the series. My only concern is they will be totally off base with it. But we'lls ee!
