I need advice...

I need advice...

So I took 3 weeks off from work for the wedding and honeymoon. My company is very generous with vacation time, so I was lucky enough to be able to take it. When we first got engaged I knew we would be taking a longer honeymoon cause its what we wanted and figured it was the right time to do it. So I asked for the time off over a year in advance and it was approved. Ok so great.... So the wedding came, and before I left, I cleared up all my work and left a detailed list of things that needed to be done while I was out. I'm a buyer for Publishers Clearing House, and work with 6 other buyers, so everyone is familiar with the work. So my last day was August 29th. The week of the wedding I called into work to make sure everything was ok and checked my email and forwarded along all important info. The following 2 weeks I had no access.
So heres the issue.... My first day back to work was yesterday, and I came back to my work now being late by 2 weeks!!! The person who is the assistant manager of the department decided that she would cover me the 3 weeks I was out and the department just help her. Well, she didn't do a thing! Now I come back to my work being 2 weeks late and I have to clear it all up! What should I do, get it done and if asked why its late then tell my boss what happened, (my boss is the director) or should I go to him now and tell him I need help being that new work is starting to come in!

Sorry so long.... Someone help please!

JMHO but I would definitely go into my bosses office now and tell him/her what happened! I wouldn't wait either because then as the new work is coming in you'll become even more overwhelmed.

i agree with the other girls you gotta talk to your boss, it's not like your trying to get the other person in trouble, but when new work is coming in and you cant get to it bc you are trying to finish work from 2 weeks ago, some one is going to notice. And i am sure you dont want it to fall all in your lap

You girls are right. Im going to have to talk to my boss. I don't want to be the complainer or the one to get someone in trouble, but its not right. Im going to ask he not say anything to the person, just to take notice that I have now 3 weeks worth of work to catch up on...
